DJR Supports the Queensland Floods Appeal

Ending weeks of speculation, Dick Johnson today confirmed that his team, Dick Johnson Racing, will field two cars in the 2013 International V8 Supercars Championship Series.
One of these entries will be operated for Triple F Racing.
"The cars that we’ve got are FPR-spec all the way and we should get up to speed pretty quickly thanks to their support," the team owner said, alluding to a comprehensive new technical alliance with Ford Performance Racing.
"We are going to run one car at the upcoming test day with a livery to support the Premier’s Queensland Floods Appeal.
"There will be a lot of interest in the Test Day because it’s the first time that fans get to see the new cars hit the track."
"I’m proud to be able to support the Premier’s Appeal in this way and with thanks to our sponsors we have been able to make it happen.
"We are grateful for the support of all our sponsors, especially companies like Crimsafe, Shell, Cabcharge, Scania, Ford, Q Ford and New Age Caravans, who have stood by us and believe in what we are doing," he said.
"But it’s no secret that we still have a few more spots to fill."
Johnson also thanked the members of Team Mates and all of his fans, many of whom expressed support through the team’s social media pages.
"I'm pretty fortunate to have a really loyal and committed group of fans who continue to stick with us through thick and thin and I can't tell you how grateful I am for that."
But there’s more good news to come for the many fans of the longest running team in V8 Supercars.
"There’s another announcement to follow early next week that will reveal our driver line-up and a few new sponsors as well," he concluded.
Johnson unfortunately is unable to attend the Test Day as he recovers from surgery. He will be back on deck in time for Adelaide’s Clipsal 500 at the end of the month.

Get on here and add your comments and "like" the least we can do is send Ford a message.

Well said Pete. I may be an ex-Holden now NISSAN fan but i think Fords handling of your team is absolutely disgusting. Take away the support from you guys and how many people do they really think are supporting their ford team that they give money to? Goodluck DJR, the only team that drive fords that Id be disappointed to see the back of.

PS can you change my name to NISMO Raiders? :)

What hope do we have for this year if that's the case?[sh] Pay drivers????? The only good thing is that DJR gets to continue for another year hence giving time to regroup after the Pickering last minute pull out. Hopefully this will buy some time to find another partner or major sponsor so we can have a better shot in 2014.

Without knowing the full ins and outs of Pickering's deal, he is now coming across as a typical used car salesman.

I'm keen to read the "spin" in the press release. Maybe Racin Jason or Henry can make up a press release and pre empt it.

Something along the lines of developing young talent with 2 new young drivers, Steve electing to take on a managerial position and more responsibility in DJR. The team going through a rebuilding phase, etc....

Oh yes, and the cars will look good

at least the self appointed internet experts cant point and jnr being in 17 as being the reason for all the worlds problems anymore [help]

And too piss me off even more he has stickers on a Holden Astra and Morris's HQ at Bathurst 12hr. Sounds like another Craig Gore to me.

I suppose Jnr will still do the enduro's in 17,. . . . . . or am i missing something

I would expect so, but even the forum nuff nuff's have always recognised his enduro performance...

To be honest I think it is going to be even harder to come back from here, once you get labelled with a 'pay driver team' tag in world motorsport it becomes pretty difficult to attract the kind of personnel who will be able to drag the team forwards in terms of setup, technology, sponsorship and results

Finally something positive.

On another note, I have just finished reading Skaifes book ( don't worry it was a loaner so no money into his pocket), and he was disgusted at the thought that there could possibly be a touring car series that didn't involve HRT (this was back when they looked like getting kicked out), as if they were what made the series. I wonder what he thinks about a series without the oldest team.

Further on the book. It may horrify some to think that I read it, but alls fair and everybody deserves their say. I am glad I read it as it has confirmed all suspisions, the guy is an egotystical knob. Nuff said.

Spent a lot of time watching the 12 hour today. Great online coverage, great racing, and still some interest in it even after 11 1/2 hours - although the weather did help.
Good to see 50 cars line up in a few different classes.

Jnr was a winner in class B in the Tinkler porsche.
Interesting to see the race suit he was wearing. Seems to have a new suit, not one from the hunter motorsport group, or one of the many he probably has lying around the place. May have been due to not wanting to promote old sponsors, but intersting all the same. (photo from Bathurst 12 hour facebook page)

And another interesting thought. What chance of picking up some disgruntled sponsors from other sports that don't want to be associated with clubs that have been tainted in the performance enhancing drugs revelations? Anyone got a copy of Essendons sponsor list?
