Is it really both sides or is it simply the best retort Ford could muster? Why was this not made abundently clear when became public knowledge that Ford were not renewing with 888?

Sour Grapes, too little too late.

Look I have heard that 888 had the lions share of Ford money but didn't want to upset their naming rights sponsor who tips in a bigger bucket load of bucks, by using the traditional Ford colour, so nothing new there, and really you have to think that Craig would jump at a three year deal at this point in his career.

The questions do remain, if Tander and Dildo were told before the anouncement, then why wasn't there any sort of negotiation for a counter offer from Ford to retain the top team and drivers.

Was the Holden deal really so clandestine or did Ford not take seriously enough the threat from Dane to jump ship?

Fords demand to have blue on their cars is ridiculous.
The major sponsor that pays for the advertising space has the final word on colour.

Wake up Ford, the racers and the fans don't give a damn what colour they are, as long as they are fast the colour dont matter.

It appears to be the case TS-50.

Then Dane shouldn't have agreed to that condition (ie. blue cars)

Yes, but whose going to take that request seriously especially when you're the top team in the paddock?

Well if it was a contracted condition that Roland Dane signed off on and chose to simply ignore, I think Ford have every right to be pi$$ed. But if Ford thinks that their demand was reasonable then they are kidding themselves big time!!

Thats right. Thats another of those classic situations where you can do everything correct and are in the right (Ford), but still end up wrong when others choose not to play by the rules.

It's all a wee bit strange me thinks! Anyway, as long as there is a DJR, I will support them, no matter what brand of car they have.

Careful RJ.
I know Dick had an FJ (who didn't!), EH (best Holden built) and a Torana but let's not get too carried away!

DJR cars aren't blue are they... And they lost ford $$$ too...
Does that mean they also "ignored the clause" or did they not have it?

this is a serious question too, would be interesting to know if ford try shoving that clause on everyone. and what about SBR having a green car?

Holden Chairman in waiting, Alan Batey, has admitted that Holden has reduced its financial commitment to V8 Supercars over the past few years, and indicated it may cut the number of teams it supports in 2010 and beyond.

He implied the company?s recently announced new deal with Triple Eight Racing and its contract extension with the Holden Racing Team (HRT) could mean there will be less, if any, cash left in the Holden Motorsport kitty for other Commodore teams in pitlane.

That was always on the cards Poita, and it's a classic way of destabilising your opposition.
Buy the best opposition team and then shaft every one loyal to you.

I don't want to see anybody lose their jobs but i'd show Dane my middle finger and tell him to shove up his arse if some Chinese company bought Holden and said no motor racing.
That would rip the rug right out from underneath him and after this Ford wouldn't entertain having anything to do with him. Even though he has a contract it would be pretty easy to pay the snake out and say F@#k Off Roland Dane

This might be the distraction everybody needed to get Whincup from winning races he's going to be worrying more about all the bad publicity that's going on now more than his racing, i think it was very bad timing to announce theur move to the dark side

[iag]

And I'm sure Holden will be claiming the win should it happen in a Ford, now.

I have a feeling that if CL/JW win Bathurst again, we could have a repeat of '92. The Holden bogans won't cheer because it's not a Holden and the Fordies will still be p!ssed that 888 will be a Bogan team. A pack of arseholes anyone?
