I was thinking the exact same thing, i guess with the BS from that greens guy who made those claims about the mine and reduced the stock value by 300million overnight would have had an impact on cashflow, similarly the crap that went on at his thoroubred complex down on the beauy side of the mountian would have cost him a packet of cash as well as fix ups after the floods and the Hendra virus stuff.

Plus even a straight loan would'nt have looked too profitable back then with ability to service being extremely questionable.

I'm happy to see Jnr in a Porsche, will that make him eligable to be an enduro driver?

So, we know that Nathan Tinkler is a mate of Steve's. We know that they have raced together at the last however many Bathurst 12 hours. We know that Tinkler was about to pour some money into the team when the CS sh!tfight was going on.

Now Steve is driving his Porsche for the year (which I'm sure didn't come as a surprise to anybody).

What I want to know is, why isn't Nathan Tinkler looking at injecting money into DJR? His interest in racing is obviously pretty high, he's a good mate of Steve's, he has options in being a sponsor or an investor (a silent one or a loud one).

Surely there was more to the story that was trotted out that he didn't come on board
because of the publicity aspect. That story stank then and it stinks now.

Does he not get on with Dick? Are all his financial ups and downs enough of a factor? (He still runs and drives the Porsche so all can't be that bad)

He could probably get great mileage for less spend than normal due to the state of the team at the moment and at the same time help the team back in the direction it should be going.

Surely this question must have been asked around the DJR offices......just wondering why nothing has happened here.

All i know is Tink was suppose to be at Bathurst 2010 had the penthouse booked at the Mt Panorama Motel but did'nt turn up, This is when all the s**t was going down with DJ, Charlie and co.
When you think about it Tinkler has his hand in alot of Mining interest and wouldent go astray having signage on DJR Falcons, eg Hunter Ports, Coal and Allied? It certainly fits in with the mining takget group, Westrac know that.

If you read the "alleged" stories in the various media outlets, he is not exactly cash rich at the moment

Speedcafe has a story of Wilson Security having the same livery on both Djr cars for the F1 weekend but no comment about anything after that.

Don't appear to be any rumours floating around about any potential sponsors either.....

Here's hoping that we can get some backing (ideally with a few dollars) for the future.

Read something the other day about Steve saying that sponsors want to be involved with DJ. Made me think that up until now that Sponsors haven't had very much access to the boss. Is that right? Surely Dick would be the one that most people would want to meet and say g'day to ..... wouldn't it be natural that he would do lot's of meets and greets? Has it been the case that he perhaps feels that he has earned his stripes and can step away from the lime light somewhat. (and who could blame him - it would take up a lot of personal time and be pretty taxing)

Is this the reason that sponsors aren't lining up?

Dick is the last of the "legends" that is around full time. I wonder if it has been poor self promotion from the team that has led to difficulties in shoring up some sponsor money? Hopefully the dollars come in soon.

Tinkler is in no position to throw the money required at DJR right now. With the downturn in the mining industry at the moment, particularly coal, he is struggling for cash flow. He doesn't have anything to do with Coal and Allied, he is their direct competitor,he owns a fair chunk of Whitehaven Coal. I work for Westrac and Whitehaven have cancelled about $30 mill in new machine orders. The mining industry is up the s*** at the moment.

Has anyone heard if there are any sponsors keen to support DJR?
Im sure Wilson Security would have just taken advantage of the situation and probably got on both cars for bugger all, we desperately need a big dollar supporter.

Dick doesn't look like he's carrying the weight of the world in that clip either.
The smile doesn't look forced and there's some brightness in his face.

While Ford has made it decision to pull up stumps and halt local production Toyota has made a $220 million profit, and are, from all reports, in discussion with the government to receive more handouts. Begs the question to be asked why are we propping up this Japanese automotive giant.
