Hey that's not a bad result for JC! Little futher back than the last few rounds but still a bloody good result at a track we have always battled at.

Would I be correct in saying that 4th is our best ever result at HV??

Well done everyone at DJR & glad to have that one out of the way. Bring on Townsville..[sc]

Sorry to double up on the posts...they are completely unrelated.

I wonder how you all found the weekend's racing?? I don't want to sound like a sore loosing fan at all......I am being as objective as I can be but I thought this weekend was as boring as bat shit!!! I almost got the opportunity to go up there.....gee I am glad I didn't throw any money at it now. I think that track on control tyres is pretty boring television....hardly any passing opportunities...just not supportive of good racing.

This control tyre/soft tyre mix concept is a horses ass too.....what a joke. The end of the race where you watch guys gobble other guys up with no fight for positions is boring...I was lost for most of it.

V8SA need to make a decision about tyres and stop sitting on the fence...also they need to piss off these stupid bloody concepts like international driver rounds etc.....continuing like this makes the championship a farce...and I can't see myself remaining interested for too much longer if they don't get a bit more serious. The first move should be to settle on on tyre type.....hard or soft...just decide....the softs are better racing

Im with you Convert, it was like they were throwing numbers at us to keep us interested.
The Highlight was the Giz waving ( Must be a NZ thing ) lol.

Sorry!....... I Dissagree!

I am loving this years Championship and found yesterdays racing bloody interesting. Each round is different and produces different winners.

Two of the best things about this year is how professional the drivers are with some really tight racing & passing without smashing each other out of the game. Most years the title has been either a 1 or 2 horse race & PREDICTABLE!....Not this year.....Any one game enough to predict the winner yet?

I think Winterbottom is still in with a shot and if a couple of the front guns come togeather once or twice then someone from 7th , 8th , 9 or 10th could jump up into the top 3.

I think the whole show is heading in the right direction and is first class entertainment!

I lost interest in the whole v8supercar thing last year but this is Good!

Not a bad weekend of racing although Junior was a long way off the pace as was the HRT cars so it wasn't all bad.

The control tyres definitely make for boring racing, the soft tyre should be made the control tyre except for the enduros, give the teams a set of softs as an option to use at those events if they want, when they want.

Reading through a lot of Forums and other V8 related sites it was interesting to note a big drop in interest for the racing over the weekend, (this site included) with Townsville less than 2 weeks away the interest in racing may pick up a little before everyone loses interest again for a nine week break before Phillip Island.

What a ridiculous way to run a sport, can you imagine any other sport having a break for four weeks then have a month with just two rounds then another 2 months break, add to that the fact that no testing is allowed during the extended break.

What brain dead sporting organisation would come up with such a concept?

I can't understand why Whincup has to have a sook after every round. I thought that 888 did a good job on the weekend, considering that on Friday they had issues with car balance and were off the pace. Lowndes used his full set of greens to get into the top 10 on Saturday and then had nothing left in the shootout.

Blaming dud tyres on Sunday and he still won the race. What a sook!

I understand your point 4ever17, and I agree, the standard of driving is first rate, and it is not clear cut either....but I think the softer tyres make for a much more interesting spectacle....thats when the guys really do earn their money

G'day Poita

As a relative newcomer (returner) to being interested in the cars, I have to say Bathurst was a real spectacle....awesome atmosphere etc...."give me more of this" I thought.....then I went to Sydney which was brilliant too.

The other things I have seen this year which makes me feel like its no better than amateur speedway are:

1. Cutting the telecasts in favour of other telecasts....delaying the cars for AFL games...and delaying the races

2. Calling the race early so as not to clash with other programming.....this one really SHIT ME OFF!!!

3. The middle east races not being broadcast until some 7 hours after they have been run and won

4. The gratuitous advertising everywhere around it....the television cutting to bloody ads every 5 laps

5. The Gold Coast concept inviting international drivers in, jeopardising championship chances just because the QLD govt said so.

6. Running the novelty tyre ideas....correct me if I am wrong but are there any other racing formulas where they impose tyre compound restrictions on races just to turn the results on there head...the backrunners all of are sudden are a chance at winning the race???

7. The canning of rounds a few weeks before the season begins

8. Control parts being introduced right in the middle of the season....which could also jeopardise championship chances

9. Months of nothing between rounds.

With a year like that, I am not sure I can keep up.....it is looking like a bit of a joke to me....I fear that if James wins this season, he'll be sitting in a pub in 20 years time and saying "yeah, I won 2010, but it was a bit of a bloody circus...it was more luck than good management". The other way to look at it of course is that whoever wins this farce this year is a real champion....give them a F1 test I say.

Cheers
A

PS. I hope it doesn't happen again like this next year...I think they will lose my interest.

9. Months of nothing between rounds.

I know we as fans find it strange or frustrating, but I think it was introduced to give the boys and girls in the workshops a mid-year break. You can see with good people getting out of the business at a relatively young age, working with a team is hard on your family life.
