CS purchased the 18 REC, he owns it . . . pure and simple. Why would he, after all the crap, innuendo, and backstabbing, simply relinquish the number back to DJR. This is a business, and CS, unlike someone else we all know well, is an astute businessman . . end of story.

Do forum rules allow us to say bad things about PREVIOUS DJR part-owners

Several words come to mind

Don't be so petty and make the number change happen

#66 would be the obvious choice for the 4th car. [sh]

5, 6, 55 and 18 just doesn't make sense.
It all seems rather petty.

Well see what he thinks of backlash when I see him at EC! I know there are some members here that have a bit of time for Mr Schwerkolt, do you still feel the same after this?

If Charlie runs with number 18 as he is saying it will clearly show that he has no real regard for the sport or the history of the sport. Number 18 has a rich history with DJR and Australian Motorsport, why do you think Bowe runs 18 on his Mustang?, its because he has had a lot of success in a DJR car carrying 18 and it means something to him.

I will give Charlie 18minutes of my time when i see him at the track next year................he can go fork himself!

Hey Charlie just remember #18 was just our NUMBER 2 Car.

All the fans of V8's will see how petty you really are by this move.

I shall have to change my monikor of umpteen years (which relates to the Rat days in car 18).
I was looking forward to seeing a CSR Ford do well cause it is a Ford, but taking the 18 is petty. For me that is a negative that spoils that entry.
If Charlie didn't use the 18 number, DJR would probably not use it either next year. It doesn't have the same aura as 17 or 05, and does not need "retiring" in my view. But I can't see how Charlie thinks running the 18 number wil good for him. Unless Courtney was his driver.

Tell me this.

If CS didn't show up and tip in millions.

Would DJR have kept Jim Beam as they were on record as saying that they wouldn't sponsor DJR under the then current set up??

Would Courtney have joined DJR??

Would DJR have had any quality staff left to win a championship seeing the only ones being paid when CS joined was Jill and junior??

Would DJR have been capable of winning a championship with a Beehag chassis which is what Dick and Dyno wanted??

Would DJR have had the motivation and drive neccesary to win in 2010 without CS considering what we've seen since??

Would DJR even be on the grid and in a position to win a championship??

If you answer Yes to any of the above you are seriously kidding yourself

Deals were done. Deals were broken.
Both parties caused the crap.

CS has every right to take and run the REC that he helped to win a championship

Yeah so what he told a few porkies about the REC to you blokes
Get over it and thank him for the contribution, because the way things were in DJR land before CS probably would have seen the recievers called in and DJR not even being around

and while you're at it you better start thanking Braeback and pickering because they've just saved DJR from the scrap heap ....again

Col, I'm not a hater of CS,. . . . . .but he is too smart, well too smart, to be playing the dumb card to fans. If he's prepared to lie when it doesn't matter a f##@ then how much of what you think you know about the deals from his side of the arguement might also be lies?

DJR have been the ultimate survivor, and in my opinion, charlie was an easy option who was ( straight from his own mouth at a teammates event to the whole crowd) happy to just be a fan, ask nothing in return and tip in a bunch of cash to help out the team no strings attached.

with all your hypertheticals i have one also.

there was always going to be someone like charlie, if not charlie, maye crimsafe would have been there a few years earlier, and it seems would have been a better option.

Just my 2c

Mate i've heard it from both sides and from different people.

Both of them screwed the team.

Isn't it a bit worrying to you that since Shell DJR have been struggling and flat out paying their own way.

It certainly concerns me that the longest running team in Australia needs to have cash injections from 3rd parties every couple of years.

So what happens if Pickering and Braebeck say enough is enough and we want our money back. They're business men they will want a return eventually.

Yes they may want a return on investment, and under whatever the terms of their deal is they may be entitled to whatever that is.

But i'm not privy to those terms, so I can only guess as to what they will be.

CS is a good businessman, he can lie straight to your face without blinking or flinching, and he has resources behind him, he won't do too badly with his own Team, whether Alex or whomever else drives for him ( it certainly won't be some nameless numpty) , but i won't befollowing him or his team except for the ford connection. Also once the Number 18 is no longer associated with DJR and of cousre Bowe, well then it's just another number, means nothin'

I for one am happy to see DJR once again in the liferaft and on the grid next year and in a Ford.

Mate we're all happy DJR is in that life raft.

I'm just dissappointed they had to use it.

I hope they all get on and DJR returns to the winner circle on a regular basis.

I don't think Dick could survive another upheavel.
He's not getting any younger and it's time he let people(steven) stand on their own 2 feet and start enjoying his life again.
It's time Steven stepped awy from the glamour side of it and they get some one that will be a proper lead driver

I want to see the happy Dick from years ago rather than a grumpy old man thats too busy stressing whether his team is going to survive

I actually thought that was going to be Steve's big announcement last month, when he announced he was going to drive on instead, Steve would be a great enduro driver if he can maintain his fitness and control his weight.

I've been a supporter of Steve, but the amount of talent coming through can't be ignored, and just maybe that's what this foray into the support category again is all about, developing a new driver.

I always find it tough to think of DJR with out Dick, but you're right his health has been called into question, especially in 2010 when he was very ill and the rumours were unkind about that to say the least , with even some in the team coming out with rubbish that would have been hurtful, and i speak from experience, the drugs I was on i was barely cognitive at times and that went on for over a year.

We are passionate fans but you know it's times like these when we should be pulling together, not tearing the team apart. Truthfully, I don't think this can get any worse except to have no team ,
