Keith, i didn't take offence to your post, I just didn't get the "hypocritical" jibe. I'm not traveling all over Australia ( and world ) paying to get into every track this event is held at, I only go to the local ones if I can, so I'm usually held to ransom at the venue gate to fork out much more than those who bought the same passes by internet services. I like watching V8's and I'm willing to pay to enjoy.

Just want to make a couple of points though. The @ $200 is a one off, normal membership will apply in future, we've been told, so this is "just like the 'rock'" and we also received a membership pack for that one off amount.

So, are you reccommending that we all stay away from tracks in droves to get improvements in our local circuit ?

No I am not saying any thing like that at all (But if we did would it be enough to hurt them in the money belt?? There is still a lot of Corporate Dollars carrying it) Channel 7 would love it if more stayed at home watching it the more they could charge for Add campaigns to be run during the races ??.I wonder how many of them from the Corporate lot turn up to rub shoulders with the Man of the moment & not know the difference between a Car Race & Horse Race???

Something to take into consideration when discussing this is exactly how much does it cost the track promoters to stage a V8 event? If most of the gate takings are spent just getting the show to the track in the first place how much can be spent on improving facilities? I really don't know what the commercial arrangements between the tracks, promoters and V8SA are, so can anyone shed some light on it so we can make a more informed assessment?

Another spanner to throw into the works......what about the increasing number of potential street races? Hamilton, Perth, Townsville, Adelaide? Surely this isnt going to help the purpose built tracks?!
