Doug:

I hope for everyone sake they do take the time to reply to your email...

All:

While i was filling up the car tonight, i noticed the workshop at the Shell garage is trading as Kmart Auto. I am wondering if one of the sponsor deals for 2007 isn't a combine effort from Shell/Coles-Myer?

Hope to see the light at then end of this tunnel soon:(

News (Rumor?) that has just passed my computer screen is that we might see DJR join the black corner with Bundaberg Rum dollars. Ohhhh i would be in merchandise heaven with that. Maybe Steve can throw on the bear suit and give Alex a ride instead:(

Guys,
I also become frustrated with the flow or lack of info at times , but , remember although we are fans and I'm sure they appreciate our support through thick or thin , we are only members of the public, not stakeholders or investers in the whole supercar juggernaught. Like the admin said at DJR site months ago, all team officials talk to other team officials and business leaders of companies on a regular basis, and when its seen by an onlooker, it can quite understandably seem as if deals are going down. The amounts of funding these teams need to function with are massive, and you don't get cash if you don't go out there asking for it.

If its just negotiations being held, would you expect them to announce it over the internet? Of course not.

The ratio of negotiations held that don't come to fruition, would far out weigh the single one final plan the team goes with for the new season. I really don't need to know every move they make.

As for selling of the personal fleet of racing cars, you got to remember guys that those cars are Dicks personal property, not the teams, (is there a difference in that?). I was disappointed as you all were to hear the fleet of the most loved Fords in Australia was sold, I guess it was a personal decision, the upside is if you get to visit DJR HQ you'll get to see some of the Bowden collection. This ought to equate to boosted sales in the merch shop as more race fans from both Holden and Ford will come to see the Bowdens collection, a collection that is traditionally stored out of sight from the public.

Hang in there guys when the smoke settles in a few weeks time we will know the truth.

Guys, in AA yesterday there was a small article suggesting that DJR has secured a technical alliance with another QLD based Ford team in similar vain to the HRT/HSVDT setup to assist in giving DJR that competetive edge once again. Reastically, this could be seen as 888 or SBR, but the article suggested 888.
It also mentioned that First Rock will almost certainly not return in 2007 as primary backer for DJR, however the team currently has 4 substantial sponsorship options for next year and beyond.
For mine, this suggests that DJR's future is secure and more to the point, extremely bright. I know there is a great deal of specualtion currently doing the rounds, but it is just that until we receive an "official" word. Expect an announcement within the next few weeks.

Hi Guys - whilst this isnt exactly anything of "newsworthy" value, Steve Chalker did respond to me,:

Hi Doug

Things have been frantic here recently as we work very hard on our plans for next year. I apologize that the press releases have not been getting thru or the race results, you will note that I have copied Vicki our PR Manager on this email so that she can ensure all future releases are posted to the Club 17 site as well as our own site.

Totally agree with you that without fans there is no team, so as always all you need to do if you need to know something is drop me an email and I will do my very best to answer any questions as honestly as I can

Best Regards

Steve

That kinda cements it for me - the fact he took the time to respond with as much info he is able to provide shows me that we, as the fans, are held in high regard and perhaps, if lazybones here pushes the envelope a lil more instead of focussing on more menial tasks (work etc) we might get more info - so rest assured I will push as much as I can without having Chalks send a lynch mob after me !!!:D

Thanks for 'speaking on behalf of us' Doug. Great to see that their fans are priorities. Hopefully things from here on in will be a little clearer. *fingers crossed*

I have been away from home for a few days and have been thinking of a way to get a bit more info out of DJR. I get back and it's already done! Thanks Doug!

Just touching back on the title of this topic of a possible merge with 888, if its done in the same fashion as HRTHSV, could this possibily lead to stronger driver pairings in the enduros?????

I'm thinking Junior and The Kid in ol #17!!!.......ooohhh yeeeaaah!!!

Not likely to happen unfortunately Nascar12, sounds like the rules for next year stipulate that the driver of car #x, has to stay with that chassis ALL year, which means there will be no more driver swapping between teams & no more car jumping with team mates.

Luv the idea though..[^][^]
