In line with our mainpage article on the final hurrah this year for Peter Brock, I was curious to see how many true fans would like to see Dick have one more stab at the Mountain, given that his last outing in 1999 was slowed by sinus problems which should have put him in Hospital for a considerable period.
Cmon fans, post your opinions and lets send them off to DJR.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I'd proudly remember DJ's racing career over a long period of time, and to see him retire gracefully & still competetive at Bathurst 99 was as much of a highlight as seeing him win a race. That's what makes him such a legend to an army of Ford fans!! I agree with Greenstuf a little though & I'd love to see him do a parade lap in one of his older cars, (take your pick which one there all legendry race cars) before the Bathurst race or something like that, but to see him make a comeback, don't think so.

Was asked in an AA interveiw do you miss driving?
"Quote" Yes,but I don`t want to make a goose of myself.
And I don`t have an awful lot to prove to anyone.
I still thoroughly enjoy doing some hilclimbs and sprints.

How could a man of dick,s stature make a goose of himself, it is not possible, when you look at brock,s comeback,s at the mountain us ford fan,s were snow balled with all the brocky fans they were everywhere the amount of suport for him was incredable and hrt would have made a packet out of it. Dick has a look on him that no one today has when driving the only problem would be he in my opinion is he would show luffy up and give stevo a run for his money and that would not look good. Anyway it would be good to see dick take the piss out of brock and give us something to upset the brock fans with and also if marketed correctly djr could make a heap

Whilst I agree that during a "sprint" round at any given track, DJ would struggle for form a little, however the guy was absolutely terrific around the mountain - even the last stint in 1999 when the sinus problems were causing him to "squint" the rubbish from his eyes, and his balance was affected, he still made good pace - and earlier in the day, on full tanks, set the cars fastest lap of the race.

Along with Lakeside Doug, Bathurst is another track where DJ has a handle on better than just about anyone else!!

The one thing that I am sure of is, which ever track he had a stab at, it would be STANDING ROOM only.[^]:):D

Hi guys. Sure, it would be fantastic to see DJ back in the seat again, but I would like DJ's great drive at Bathurst in 1999 to be my final memories of him behind the wheel, not that of some ill-fated comeback that results in a performance that is not a patch on what we all know he was once capable of. Dick has been out of the seat for 4 1/2 years and the series is now much more competetive than it has ever been before. This is a lesson Larry Perkins learnt the hard way last year after being out of the seat for less than 12 months. He crashed in practice and was horribly off the pace throughout the event, and in some way it detracted from his great Bathurst drives from over the years. I would hate for Dick to make the same mistake. The countless Bathurst memories of DJ should remain uncompromised, and his retirement should remain graceful. I honestly think that Brocky will struggle at Bathurst this year!

Brocky's made more comeback's than John Farnham.
At the recent test day at Winton he was 2 second's slower than Skaife. That would have qualified him last if it was for the race and in danger of not qualifying due to percentage cut off.
Dick is a legend of Australian motorsport, let's just leave it that way.
I feel that Brocky could be embarrassed at Bathurst.
If there is only a small amount of pace car's he'll have to run all day with today's star's. I think Brock's only chance will be a lot of pace car's to keep him on the lead lap.

Doug, remember "Playdo" in a HRT Commodore at Bathurst 2000??? He spent more time off the track than he did on it. Also, this year with only 35 pro cars running in the enduro's, there will be less pace cars than we've seen in previous years so the chances of #05 being able to keep up thanx to a safety car is less likely than in previous years.

Doug may bet is Playdo either breaking it or crashing it.
Probably breaking it, the HRT car's are about as reliable as a HD Holden at the moment

I'll be cheering that one on from the grandstand JB. First corner, #05 in the wall, doesn't get better than that!!

I have much more respect for Dick for having stuck by his guns. While any one of us would give so much to see the man in action, I'm sure that any thought of a comeback, particularly one which didn't meet the levels of expectation, would dilute some of the respect that people have.

Personally, I think Brock should've stayed away... I would be very surprised to see him rate a real threat to the Winner's Circle at Bathurst this year... but I've been wrond more than once too.
