Jason, I'm feeling confident of at least another podium, if not hoping for a win. I remember last year when SJ took the lead in #17 in the closing stages at the mountain, and seeing how Will and Steve went at 'The Island' I see no reason to change my outlook.

At the same time I've seen so many fall close to victory through circumstance, or mechanical failure, that I know anything can happen. I just look forward to seeing DJR at the pointy end when opportunity knocks.

I think that one of the best things to come out of the weekend was the fact that the two 'dumped' Ford teams figured on the podium. Me thinks Mr Price and co will be wiping egg from their faces in 2009!!!

I Agree ROB17! Funny how the two teams that have been dumped by ford next year seem to appear on the podium at endurence rounds. A 888 Built FG with DJR power will be a force to be reckoned with, Ford money or no Ford money!

Cheers
John

Pretty confident of a good result at Bathurst after P.I. The Island has been a bogey track for DJR now for so long with their last podiom being there...............??? someone will correct me here.. Back in the Bowe era.. To grab 3rd last weekend was an awesome result & I am quietly confident we'll be much stronger again at Mt Panorama.

On the Jnr subject, untill the rains came he was putting in his best drive of the season & his pass on Radisich was the pass of the day. It was a ballsy move by Jnr on the outside of turn 1 at 280ish k's an hour. Lets not forget people, he has now had 3 podioms in the last 12 mths & thats more than Skaife, Rick, Todd & most of the field really.

He's a good solid driver who I'd have in my camp if I was short of a $ that's for sure. I can't remember the last time he shunted in a race & you can't say that about to many others out there!!

Just hope we see more of the aggression we saw at PI last weekend in the remaing rounds of the series..

Rob18........You the man stan..If you say Sj`s race was one of his finest well that`s good enough for me as I didn`t get to see the race and can`t wait to see the highlites of move on the Rat. 3 podiums for him this year? Well you can`t argue with facts now can you? I don`t care what any one says. He must have been under enormous pressure for a while now and as that lifts we aint seen nothing yet! Steve Johnson will be 2009 V8 Supercar CHAMPION! Any one want a Greenback on it? And also hats off to Mr Burgess. ( BHP ).

Didnt the rat come equal 3rd at the island in his last year with us?

*Edit*

I checked. Equal third with Marcos in 2002.:D

Yeah he did Mitch, but Marcos got the final spot on the podiom due to his higher spot in the last race of the day IIRC.

I have never liked the way podiums are awarded to the highest finisher in the last race. I think it should go back to laps led.

Don't get me wrong, as I have defended Steve for many years now, but i think that a Davison/Owen combination at Bathurst would be a tantalising prospect of an outright result.

Peregrine, I agree, as much as I want to see "Johnson" on the winners podium, I would like far more to see DJR on the top step - I just don't think SJ has the goods to do it - as much as that may annoy some supporters,

it annoys me no end. Stevie will do the job at the mountain and i will be first to say i told you so!!

Me to Doug....Here is your peice of pie already for you to eat at about 4:30 pm Sunday afternoon! It should be nice and ripe by then. "HUMBLE PIE"........[pk]

I'm with madddog, although it doesn't annoy me as much :D, but Steve J has well and truly proved himself on the mountain where as Steve O is yet to do so. He is quick but as yet needs to prove he is reliable, DJR IMO have the right driver combination.

I agree, it was proven last year with the fantastic result. This year with the team even stronger than before I can see the no 18 car right at the top of the tree

I will happily eat my humble pie, and wash it down with <s>some of the DJR victory Champagne</s> Jim Beam (gotta look after the sponsor :D)!!!! As long as DJR win i am happy, just putting forward my opinion that i think Steve's days at DJR are, unfortunately, numbered...... [B)]

Guys I want nothing more than a DJR victory on the Mountain, and I agree that SJ always pulls out something special up there - its the other 13 odd tracks where he falls down - the championship is not just about Mount Panorama - if it was Stevie J would be further up the pecking order.

Sorry Doug but here is another peice of pie and it`s been crievacked for the end of 2009 when Sj will be V8 SUPERCAR Champ! [hb]
