At the risk of being accused of just that, lets look at all 4 drivers Fastest Laps over both races: Lets Start with 17, the oldest car in the field and the 2 NON fulltime drivers (maingame.)

Steve Owen Race 1: 1.35.11
Warren Luff Race 2: 1.35.95

Now lets check the pro's out in 18.

Steven Johnson Race 1: 1.36.15
Will Davison Race 2: 1.34.66

Enough said I think - no longer do I think Car 17 is the problem.

Doug,

This might be true over a few laps, but i thought Jnr did a very good job in the race. He got past the Rat & Bernard nicely and was doing well in the wet until he speared off... Had hoped he would follow Whincup in and change to wets, but 3rd is another good result in the end.

Bundy Ber I agree totally - in enduro form there are few to match Junior on pace or racecraft -I was simply highlighting his sprint form, or lack thereof - these days you cannot rest on the enduros and not back up in the sprint rounds.

Steve actually did a pretty good job today showing good in race speed to pass a couple of cars with ease, it's just a shame that the rain which usually would have been kind to him, wasn't today.

Lap times are completely subjective, just one lap with a clear track can mean a blistering lap compared to someone in traffic or defending.

Anyway third was a good result at days end.[bc]

Jnr does always turn it up at this time of year. There has been alot of talk this weekend about Owen performance in car 17, but it went backwards during the race and in the end was involved in someone else's accident. Jnr kept it clean and went forwards in the process.

Only reason Skaife/Tander won today was because the saftey decided it hadn't done enough km's for its sponsers. Is holden still going to complain about Parity with the win and the fact Tander is winning championship as well???

settle down Bundy, if you had half a head you may have noticed that the safety car was sponsored by Jim Beam... the proud sponsor of our team.

Now give yourself an uppercut...

BTW, I think give credit where credit is due, the HRT did a very good job today especially to come back from where they were mid race, our boys did an amazing job as well to once again finish on the podium.

Bring on Bathurst...

Not sure on why Steve was off the pace but you couldn't fault his race.

When the FG arrives he can't hide. So next year we will know if he's the goods or not.

Dont write of Steve...For what i know (Very Limited Knowledge indeed) Steve is a good endurance racer...With the new race format in 09 that will include longer races I think Steve will be very completive.

Impressed with Owen...Wouldnt be nice to have 3 cars next year.

I haven't seen this much emotion on here since hoony the loony left!:D:D

As usual Stevie J did a great job and looked the goods in the race. What a pity 17 didn't have a better finish.

What today did show once again is what a great job DJR are doing with old cars. Look out next year!

Made a couple of edits for obvious reasons.

Slightly uncalled for BB, Holden V8 Supercars comments were in no way a personal attack on you, your comments on the other hand were.

Any other reference to these comments or this post will be deleted.

End of discussion, now back on topic.

Personally I think the point of it all is that when the rain came down our boys were 1st and 3rd. Obviously the change in conditions was unkind to quite a few and whilst Will & Steve were able to make the most of a poor situation, obviously the 17 car fell to circumstance.

Both pairs did a great job, and will go on with it at the big one.
