Best driver never to win Bathurst?? I reckon by a long long way(except for Steve and Will anyway) Love to have him back, but Supercars to political and doesnt reward hard racing enough for Marcos may be slot him into an enduro seat for us one day

Couldn`t have said it better Maddog.

Never to win Bathurst. Because he was STOPED by the officials and he left us behind! Good on ya Marcos you saw the writing on the wall. 2nd time he could have won Murphey took care of that.

Why does he have to be jealous just to state the obvious?[gcs]

Yeah keep waving that thing around Jason and you'll go blind.
Besides you can't penalise me.

So off topic we go.

Rick Kelly although talented is never going to be another Brock or a Johnson or any other legend for that matter.
Kelly won his championship by finishing races and not having a go. He won it by default.
He also won it with the most underhanded team shit we have ever seen.
He isn't a worthy champion and never will be. In fact he will never win another championship while he has the 'just bring it home attitude'.
In fact if it wasn't for John and Magaret Kelly's quite substantial bank account Rick wouldn't have progressed from doing circle work on the quad at the farm

What was the topic again

Oh thats right Ambrose breaks through.
Yep good steerer that Marcos.
Shame he still isn't here pedalling the SBR Falcons around.
It would be Championship 3 or 4 by now and Bathurst 1 or 2 as well.

It would be a shame to see the mighty one racing for Toymota but as long as he never sets foot in a Holden i don't really care. If he ends up in a Chev in the US of A , well so be it.
As long as when he's ready to grace our fair shores he saddles back up in a nice Blue Falcon and gets the Holden precious shaking in their ugg boots at the thought of him being in the V8 seies once again i'll be a happy man.

After all he owned everything that wore the badge of a pu$$y

Murph has seemed a little distracted and off his game this weekend. Marcos doesn't even have to be on the grid to get up Spud's nose!

Yes Marcos was at the track, walking the pitlane. He took everyone by surprise being there. He was taken away from the public very quickly once it was said he was there.

The Devil Racer has capitalised on his Australian background and is proud of what he has achieved so far.

?To get in there and mix it with guys from Formula One and IndyCar and all these other categories and make it stick compared to most of them; most of them have gone now,? he said.

?Dario Franchitti?s gone, AJ Allmendinger is out of a ride, Jacques Villeneuve lasted five minutes.

?These are pedigree drivers that didn?t last very long, so I feel proud of what I?ve done and the big part of that has been the leveraging of my Australian accent and being able to feel privileged to be there and I think that rubs off on how I look over there and how I?m accepted.

?I feel like I got a little tainted over here (in Australia), where I?d won and maybe said the wrong thing a time or two and got painted with the wrong brush.

That would have been the blue one, . . . . anyway the red fans can go and get stuffed if they are so partisan that they can't applaud genuine talent even if it came from the ford side originally.

Australia's Marcus Ambrose to make history by racing at Daytona 500

JUST a fortnight after Ben Graham's Super Bowl appearance, Marcos Ambrose is set to become the latest Australian to make history in an American sporting showpiece.

The former V8 Supercars champion will become the first Australian to line up in the iconic Daytona 500 when he begins his first full season in NASCAR racing's top-tier Sprint Cup series this weekend.

And along with the milestone will come his biggest-ever pay day, with even a last-placed finish set to earn him at least $379,800.

Ambrose and his new team JTG Daugherty Racing learned over the weekend they were guaranteed one of 35 starting spots for Monday's (AEDT) 200-lap race at Daytona Beach, Florida.

"I have to pinch myself every day because it is the biggest race there is," said Ambrose, who qualified 30th-fastest on Sunday ahead of two heat races later this week.

"I'm really looking forward to my first Daytona 500 because it is huge for me personally to be able to experience it first-hand.

"For years, I have read about the race in magazines while living in Australia and it intrigued me."

The 32-year-old Tasmanian is stepping up to the top level of NASCAR racing in just his third year racing in the US.

He had 11 starts in the full NASCAR Championship last year as well as a full season in the second-tier Nationwide series, including a race victory and an overall top-ten finish.

He admits this season is "make-or-break" for him, and wants to get off on the best possible foot on Sunday in what is the biggest race of his career.

Ambrose said he hoped for better fortune than that of compatriot Graham, after the Australian punter's Arizona Cardinals went down to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl.

"Hopefully I can get the job done and win the 500 to make up for it," said Ambrose, who met Graham in 2004.

"But I think just the experience for me this first year is what it's all about.

"I just want to settle in, do the right thing and show everybody that I can do it."

Ambrose won't be to only Australian in the limelight at Daytona, with country music superstar Keith Urban to perform at the pre-race show.
