On a side note, Warren Luff is tipped to secure a full-time drive at LDR in the Gulf Western Conformadore. If this is true, well done Wazz and very much deserved, but I won't be cheering for you [tsk]

I'm gunna have to disagree with you there for once Rob.
I hope that Luffy does get a fulltime ride and if it means he has to drive a stinky Holden then so be it. I will support Luffy 100% but doesn't mean i will support the team he is with or the car he is driving, although i have nothing against Lucas Dumbrell.

Ive gotta be honest, i'm shocked at how many of you are putting supporting a WINNING team before supporting DICK'S team.

If Dick has no input, and owns 30% of the team, and if there is no 'Johnson' on the window of car 17, then it will no longer be Dick Johnson Racing... and that is who we support.. not Jim Beam, not James Courtney, not Charlie Schwerkolt, and not Adrian Burgess...

It's like people from North Sydney continuing to support Manly after they booted them from the club.. Why would they?

Remember Steve finished above James in the championship last season, and has had serious problems with his health this year... and at Bathurst, he was stuck with Marshall, who did nothing, while JC got Luffy who passed about 6 cars during his stint.. I'm not suggesting that Jnr is a better driver than Courtney, but he's not that bad..

I'm speaking for myself, but I bet for everyone else when I say that I wish it could stay asit is. A johnson team with a johnson in the seat competing. Whilst I agree that steve is a great driver, he is simply not in the league of courtney, davison, whincup and tander. Not any more, and highly unlikely again. Despite craig winning bathurst I think he has also won his last championship. He'd probably agree with me too.

There are a lot of talented, fit and dedicated young guys coming through that will ensure these older guys won't do it again anywhere but where the experience really counts, Bathurst. The commercial reality of all that is, if you want to win a championship, you need gun engineers, well organised team, superior commercial relationships and most importantly, TWO, not one, gun drivers. Vodaphone may soon look at craig too, but he's done a great job at the enduros to stay put a while longer.

Its cut throat, yeah, but this is the reality. If Dick wants to stay DJR, he must realise that sponsors want both cars winning or they'll go somewhere else.

I guess in short what I have been trying to say is that if DJR is not a winning team, my feeling is that in the not too distant future there will be no DJR. So I would prefer a winning DJR (albeit it under a slightly revised guise) as opposed to no DJR at all.

DJ has been taking a back seat for some time now so I think we need to move with the times or we could be lost forever. I am an idealist and would love DJR to exist soley with DJ and SJ involved, but I am also a realist and think that this may not be possible...not in present times.

If nothing else, I really hope the team can get through this cos I think things will get worse before they get better...just my opinion.

I disagree, I think if James wins the championship this year, the sponsor will be happy, They may not be happy with the exposure they are getting for their investment, but that's not a team problem.

The real problem for JBR will be if the team splits, for the sponsor, do they stay with an iconic , well known name, or do they go with the championship winner?

When I said an out come where this team could stay together was acceptable, that's just what i meant, I didn't mean it was desireable, because i agree with Mitch's sentiment on this, I'm a Dick Johnson fan, and I will continue to support that the the last expression of it's tenure.

In my opinion if we are all prepared to just jump ship to support the bits and peices of this team as they fall from it or are discarded by it or they leave by mutiny or coup, then the question has to be asked, the hard question that no one wants to hear or answer; Will that make us the same kind of hypacritical sheep, that we despise the majority of holden fans for being because they support whatever holden team is winning at the time just to be on the bandwaggon without having to display real loyalty?

I don't want this to be a tirade and , please this is not a personal slight to anyone in particular, its a question to ask yourself in private and answer in pprivate, it one I'm asking myself right now.

Oh and one more, . . . . Is there any point in renewing my Number 6 Team mates membership?

Personally while I understand why things are now the way they are, I supporting Dick in whatever decision he makes here,. . . that might be unpopular, . . . and then sticking to my original gut feelings, Ford second, . . . and guys like Charlie, Courtney etc. . . . next if they are still on the Blue side.

DJR 4 LIFE is all i'm going to say.

I am just going to wait for the official word from DJR themselves. I am getting sick and tired of reading all sorts of BS that is being put to us in all forms of the media.

If anyone wants to believe all that is coming from the media then i'll add another one to the chapter and that is that Auto Fiction have said in today's edition of spin that the DJR deal is on the brink as Nathan Tinkler is having second thoughts about becoming co-owner after news of the deal caused bitter divisions within the team.
IT also states that Tinkler has until this Friday 15 Oct to sign the deal.

It also states that Charlie & Dick kept clear of each other at Bathurst & did not talk directly. Funny that as i'm sure i read that Dick & Charlie were seen together on the pit wall on Friday chatting.

These clowns will say anything just to sell their stories and sell more papers/magazines.

And on another note Charlie was at DJR the other day (Mon or Tue) in his team clobber and also talking to Dick.

Darren, I hope auto fiction becomes auto non fiction on that story. Its the only workable outcome in my mind. I hope they can work this out. Charlie and.Dick's relationship has returned the team to the top of the championship. Clearly something is working right.

I will 100% be renewing my Team Mates membership too!

For the moment I am done with commenting on this topic. I am sick of it and it is draining. I'm going to remain positive, sit back and await some form of official word. I'm also going to ignore all the hearsay and speculation.

We have all lost sight of the fact that James is leading the championship so I am going to give my all to cheering him to a title. I really hope he can do it.

DJR all the way :)

I too will renew my membership, but if Dick and Steven are no longer part of it I would certainly review that decision. I simply don't want to contemplate a DJR without a Johnson.

Yep... i'm just waiting to see what happens aswell.. i dont see any of this as set in stone.. Dick has proven to be a shrewd business man over the years, and i cant see him letting his team slip through his fingers without a fight, but at the same time, cant see him letting all the talent walk out the door living him set up for embarrassment...

I just wasnt happy with the anti-dick, pro-charlie sentiments on a discussion board built for Dick Johnson fans..

Just looking at the photos of Dick with the Davisons' Dad on pit lane before the race on Sunday..

How about... Courtney leaves with Charlie, and Will Davision comes back to DJR in his place? [bw]
