i thought he was going home to hrt?
oh well i wonder what his excuse will be this time

Those comments were just typical HRT spin that Will was given to say. I can guarantee you Rob that Will would have much rather stayed with DJR.

i like loyalty and he jumped pretty quick into the hornets nest that is HRT.

I won't support him at FPR but if he happens to win in a Ford i'll say thank you , well done and ****ing beauty

I think if you knew the facts (and you may do) of his departure then i'm sure you would of done the same thing that he did Col.

I think it was a business decision which may have been pressed by his management as well... certainly, as good an atmosphere as DJR can be, the time around Will's HRT signing wasn't one of the most positive ones in the team's history... and as much as I worship the ground on which they pour the sump oil from #17, if I were an aspiring racer, I would have been looking to put as many good irons in the fire as possible...

...but I would rather jame a hatful of live wasps up my arse than drive a ****ing Holden

[crackup]

At the end of the day, Will made that decision and then instead of being open about it, skulded off to HRT without a word ,. . . I think his crew would have been justified in feeling a little pissed as well as the whole team.

While it's no secret that DJR didn't have the budget to compete with the HRT offer, Will could have at least given them the respect of saying , guys i need to do this for my career/cash/whatever,. . . . it's the decent thing to do, . . . . . And Dick did say that he'd told Will that if there was a better offer for him take it because they wouldn't be able to go much further with the then budget, . . . the door was open, and Will slammed it on his sneaky way out.

I had heard this while picking up some laybuys today. Highly doubt it is true but it is a rumour. James is leaving due to the issues over charlie and is going to HRT and W Davison is leaving HRT and coming back to DJR. [sh] As said doubt it very much but has anyone else heard of this

Probably inclined to agree with the first part Timmy although the reasons are a little more complicated.

I think the second part is highly unlikely as it appears W Davo will be at FPR next year.

As unpopular as this is to say, what should happen is james stays and will comes in. Dick slows down, Steve takes a management/endurance driver role, and Charlie stays.

That I think would be a seriously powerful djr in 2011. Woulda challenged the t8 dominance for sure!

Unfortunately, given the crap that seems to be happening, it looks unlikely.

Agree with you 100% convert09 but if Dick was to take a step back and Charlie increases his stake in DJR to say 80%, what does this leave Steve with when he retires? A stake in a business where, as the minority shareholder, he has minimal clout.

Whilst I can understand why Dick/Steve have done this, I would rather see Dick/Steve as minority shareholders in a top operation that is challenging for race wins as opposed to them being 50% partners in a business that is battling for credibility once again.

On a side note, Warren Luff is tipped to secure a full-time drive at LDR in the Gulf Western Conformadore. If this is true, well done Wazz and very much deserved, but I won't be cheering for you [tsk]

I'm with ya mate. I wonder though, for the sake of harmony, if dick could have maintained a controlling share of things for a period while seves arrangements settled down, and then things could change ownership wise.

I guess my point is.....what was the ****en rush?

I probably should stop now anyway. Certainly none of my business to speculate on these affairs

Whether we like it or not Mitch, rightly or wrongly, things change. Business these days had not a lot of space for sentimentalism. Our loyalty to the johnsons is worth money, absolutely, but the sponsors need them to win. If what is being speculated is real, they will stop winning, and very shortly!

Yes but if it's not Dick's team, and Steve's not there... why do we care if they win or not? they wont be DJR anymore.. they will be Charlie Schwerkolt Racing. I'll go and support the Stone Brothers..

I think this is probably what would have been an acceptable outcome to all, . . .shame it's not going to be this way, . . .I can't see light, . .

It's a sad time to see the team built up again and then torn down again, and this time actually looking like splitting, damn shame.
