You guys are damn good with your depth of knowledge regarding Dick and his team. Since we've been focussing on the "good ol' days" and you've had the answers so quickly, I thought my next topic might involve a bit more research and time (gives me a bit of breathing space too!:D).

Name all of the great men (and any of the others :D) who have co-driven with Dick at Bathurst, and their best individual finishing positions in the Great Race

John French drove solo to finish 2nd in the 1972 Hardie Ferodo .He is the only one of Dick's co-drivers to have a individual race result. Or did you mean individual as in not driving with Dick?

I guess I meant independent of Dick and DJR: while Frenchy was a winner with Dick, as you say, he finished second n 1972, in possibly his finest drive.

OK. First thing I have to correct my self, I've been doing more reading .Both John French and Kevin Bartlett drove solo in 1971. So you mean:
Larry Perkins ,Gregg Hansford and Kevin Bartlett have all won the Great race.

Big Col you totally rock!:D. The only one I would amend would be JB's best, as I think he was classified 2nd in 87. I re-read Bill Tuckey's 87 book on the Great Race, and it was a VERY confusing year.

Yes very confusing . Page 260 under List of performances Glenn Seton /J.B. are listed as 2nd.Further on in the book in the Lap Chart it has them listed as 5th behind Fury/Shiel ,Brock/Parsons/McLeod and the 2 Texaco Sierra's that were eventually excluded from the results. So where was JB placed ?

1988 is just as confusing with the Shell teams 3 cars . Who qualifed the 18 and 28 cars, who started the race in them and was a driver change done on the 17 car before it retired on lap 22. The records show Dick/Neville Crichton as pole sitters and J.B/Rob Gravett 2nd.

Nobody mentioned the late Gregg Hansford, 1993 Bathurst winner, and Dick Johnson's 1987 co-driver! (only just thought of him myself -- 1987 wasn't a year to remember)

Gregg Hansford also co-drove in 1986, and received high praise from Johnson, including some nice comments on racecam.

I did mention Gregg Hansford but I was thinking that Gregg co-drove with Dick in 1986 in the Mustang.

I'll put it down to brain fade: now there's one: for which ex-DJR co-driver was the term "brain-fade" allegedly coined?

John Bowe was placed second in the 1987 Great Race. It may be a typo, or the rolling lap chart that was in the book. I'll double-check that. John Bowe qualified #18 in 1988, and only a guess, but based on my Great Race grid from 1988, Alfredo Costanzo did the duties for #28. The rem 'brain-fade' was invented for Neville Crichton.
