Sorry should have been a new topic.

Back in 1980 Dick prepared his XD in blue to impress a hopefull sponsor who's colours were also blue.

For a particular reason the sponsor never signed.

Who was that sponsor who never signed ? and why did thay not sign ?

Facom. The deal was hinged on Dick getting under the lap record at a Lakeside meeting. The only tyres they had for the car were probably barely good enough to hang over the side of the boat to stop it getting knocked around, and took a couple of laps to come up to a workable temperature. Come race time, and the organisers let a stack of Geminis into the event in which DIck's Falcon was entered. As the rubber came up to temp, the Falcon found itself among the Geminis, and inevitably one zigged instead of zagging, and Dick planted it hard enough to ruin his day (he added insult to injury for being fined for speeding in pit lane). Facom blew the deal off on the basis that he hadn't got under Kevin Bartlett's lap record.

For the extra brownie points, name the Gemini driver, and his previous connection to Dick Johnson
