Writing has been more or less on the wall for a while, the last hope seemed to me that the mysterious fourth manufacturer was coming on board with djr. With today's announcement thats out the window so it looks inevitable now, but then who imagined that sbr would sell their recs too???

I have been saying this for the last six months, cannot see a way for DJR to secure a fourth REC, also they have only three chassis being built by Pace with a forth (spare) not being built until mid 2013

DJR knew a long time ago they would only be fielding three cars in 2013.

At least there will only be 3 cars running around the rear of the field next year

Does that mean we will only be 4th last, 3rd last and 2nd last as we have lost the 4th REC.
Probably look good doing it but![crackup]

Saddest thing is DJR are only a single REC entry these days.

If Morris and Fiore pull up stumps it will be even harder for a single car DJR to compete.

If they had any brains they'd be on the phone to FPR real fast, trying to organise some sort of technical alliance

Unfortunately things don't look too bright for DJR. With Moffats departure goes Norton and Toshiba money, and I honestly can't see Beam renewing. Ford will probably offer them no financial support either so it's gonna be 3 cars (only 1 of which is a true DJR entry) and bugger all money.

Can anyone honestly, whole heartedly say that there is ANYTHING positive to say about DJR at the moment or ANYTHING that looks to be a positive for them in the future?
I've tried to think of something, and the only thing I can think of being anywhere near positive is that next year everyone starts with a brand new car so theoretically all on an even playing field, but even that is clutching at straws.[sh]

Sort of makes you wonder how the feeling is at the workshop. As someone who pretty much just follows the conversations and banter on this forum ( not stalking), it is unbelievable to see the mood fall so far in 18 months. There is obviously great loyalty and love for Australias greatest ever Race Team, but it is starting to get pretty serious as to where they are heading. Unfortunately, as much as we hated or loved him, Courtney was a genuine personality that could drive. With this came fans, support and $$. I don't think there is any doubting Jnr's ability, but he doesn't capture that audience, especially from the younger or new fans which will build into the future.

Lets hope something comes out of nothing and we see them rise again, but!!!!!

I love DJR and am a long standing Dick Johnson fan but if it aint broke, dont fix it. Well it is broke at DJR and they need to do some serious restructuring and put into place a decent business plan moving forward. The plan needs to incorporate all of the things that have helped build a fan base and business over the past 35 years. For example Dick used to be very public friendly, this type of approach is why the fans loved and related too him (me included) but on the last two occasions i have had contact with Dick at the track he has been gruff, grumpy and made me feel like i was a pain in the arse to him, in fact to get my hat signed at Sandown, after he told me he to hurry up he is busy (in a gruff tone) i reminded him that i had just spent 1500 on hot laps..................this tuned up his approach.
I dont mean to sound like im bagging Dick, because thats not my point, but if they cannot treat their supporters properly how do they treat the sponsors?
Its time every aspect of DJR is reconditioned before there is no DJR

You are right, the approach to the fans is leaving a lot to be desired.
A mate rang the HQ to see if the TRU BLU FG was there for viewing. He was spoken in a tone that made him feel like he really interrupted their day. I've experienced similar and a lot of you blokes have too at times.
If you want to be greeted and smiled to, make sure there is a TV camera or a reporter nearby.

Does DJR have a COTF chassis/car for next year?

Does a cardboard box with paper plates for headlights and drawn on wheels, with straps to hold it over the drivers shoulders count?
(hey, at least it would probably be faster than the current chassis - and V8sc could claim a 5th manufacturer!)[help]

Echoing alot of my feelings guys. But don't dare ask any serious questions on the Team Mates forum!

The Team is in the shit, end of story. Unless there is a big name sponsor waiting in the wings, get used to looking at the bottom of the timesheets for "our" team. Whilst other teams are announcing new manufacturer deals and rumours of drivers moving teams and taking sponsors with them, DJR has nothing but bad news. Of course the usual suspects give us the empty platitudes that everything is rosy and the future looks as good as the cars. DJR looks and performs like a team that is treading water and barely staying afloat. I wish something positive would be announced for DJR for a change. No one is doubting the efforts of the people at DJR, I'm sure they are all doing their best but when Blake Smith says that they don't have a designated shock tech and he is doing them for all the cars, the question of resources comes to mind. I keep telling myself that they might be saving all their coin for next year but I'm not so sure. Mitch Timbs mentioned during a pit tour that DJR's sole CoTF chassis had been returned to Pace for "some moifications", Im not sure what that would be about.[sh] Has anyone that has been to the workshop recently seen it reappear?

On a positive note, I think the addition of Mitch Wilson has been a fantastic move by the team to address some of the issues that have been creeping in with the "Team Mates" concept. Mitch is very approachable and has done a top job so far, he gets my "Yay" for the day! However the pessimist in me can't help but think the sudden interest in the Team Mates might be to ensure that DJR doesn't lose a nice, not so little revenue stream in reaction to impending sponsor departures.

Anyhoo, like I've said before. As long is there is a DJR, I will support them and I'm going to hope for a little Bathurst miracle![help]

I know 10/10ths is about a spopular around these parts as Skaife, but one thing i have noticed is rather telling. In their annual who will win bathurst poll, DJR havent attracted a single vote, this would have to be the first year that that has happened. not even a vote from a sentimental fan with the strongest of hope. I think that is really telling of the sort of situation the team has found itself in. To be honest only one thing has surprised me so far this season, and that is that it has taken so long for the Jim Beam to not renew sponsorship rumors to start kicking around.
