The XD that hit the Rock in 1980 wasn't a new car when DJR took possession of it. Can anyone name its original owners (Doug's feature provides the basic answer, but can you be more specific?), and the mileage that Dick estimated it had on it when he got hold of it?

I will have a guess from memory. I think that the XD came from Bryan Byrt Ford used car lot. I think it may have been a ex- Queensland police force highway patrol car. Dick and his small team built the XD race car using the mechanicals from the XC race car .

Correct Wazza, John Harris sourced an ex-Maryborough Highway Patrol car with 43000km on it. Part of the deak with Bryan Byrt was that Dick was to rebuild the XC coupe as a road car for Byrts to sell, so I think it might have been a win-win deal for John Harris!! Still, it put Dick into the big time, so us fans can count it as a win too
