a few weeks ago i went to Djr HQ at stapylton, i took my camera here is a selection of pics.

while i was there i pre ordered a 1:64 XC "Reverse" Cobra Johnson/Schuppan, and wanted to buy heaps but my wallet wouldnt allow it lol.

the staff were friendly, and i loved looking at all the old pics, models, winners trophies etc in the cabinets, and i enjoyed looking at the cars.

anyway here is the link.

Good pic's Fordlover. I see they have added the AU to the collection. Is the FJ still there or have they stuck that out the back some where???

Just on another note while were talking about the museum, just wondering, now since the Shell deal is a lot smaller than it was, I wish they would put them Valvoline stickers back on the XD. Annoys me every time I look at it..

FJ isn't there ATM (I was there a couple of weeks back). EB needs some attention at some stage... always worth a trip though!

Nice pics!

You're right Rob, those Shell stickers on the XD give me the heebies too!

And I just noticed, the grille/bonnet combination on the Mustang is wrong as well. The car originally came with the bonnet scoop and egg-crate grill. When the homologation update came in mid-1985, the bonnet scoop went and they changed the grill to the letter-box style. Also, the sloping headlight covers had to be taken off.

Look out for a Club 17 feature on the Mustangs shortly. :D

A pity to have a nice display of significant race cars spoiled by a lack of attention to detail. Perhaps it is just a shortage of available manpower.

Could be... I had somebody give me a serve on a forum somewhere about the Mustang when I asked what was the go with the scoop (which doesn't ecen look like the one from the 1985 car anyway, the white interior, and a couple of other points... dash panel etc

I'd like to see ol' Tru-Blu done properly... authentic (font styles and numbers similar to XE) and smooth paint (crow's feet in the roof are sad... you can see Alf's signage underneath too!), window seals are had it...

but there are other things they're doing I guess...

Beejay, definitely shortage of manpower. I know that the EB has been a long-term project and was only worked on when the team had some spare time. In this day and age, with an ultra-competetive season, 4 cars and a gruelling schedule, I certainly know how I would like to see the teams time spent.
In terms of the Mustang, Dick's 1986 mount was sent to WA as it was purchased by Ian Love. He raced it in the 1987 ATCC round at Waneroo, but beyond that I don't know what happened to it. I'm sure the one on show is just a mock-up of the original, hence all of the discrepancies. It also never had a bonnet scoop originally, rather a bonnet bulge, similar to that of the BA. Best sounding car by a country mile also [8D].
P.S. If you need any assistance with your feature, I would be glad to help :)

The addition to the original Mustang bonnet had an opening at the rear, so I call it a 'scoop', like the A9X Torana scoop. Whatever we call it, that thing on the bonnet now is just a close-enough-is-good-enough-addition.

ROB17, check your email for a preview of my Mustang article.

So far as I know the one in the showroom is the one that was left in NZ - according to Jon who used to work for DJR - however location of the dash dials -interior colour and a few other outstanding discrepancies lead me to believe it could be another Mustang (i.e.: ex seton or davidson/kramer ) and repainted ?? Bjay whats ure take on it?

Mate, NFI.

I haven't bothered to look much into the history of ex-DJR cars. I'd always suspected that the Anderson Bros bought one of the DJR cars, but one of the Andersons said that was not the case.

I did take a photo of the cockpit of Dick's Mustang in 1986, but, with such basic items incorrect on the outside,... well, let's no go there.

When you say "left in NZ", when was that?

If you are refering to the black JPS Mustang, it wasn't left in NZ. My photo of the car was taken at the Amaroo ATCC round in 1986 where it was on display with the green sister car. That is unless it was sold and returned to NZ after that.

No, she was the spare again at Bathurst in 1986, running a big "T" on the door, as was the custom then. I believe that this was the car which got its pretty nose broken in early 1987. Chequered Flag mag had a great shot of it post-crash along with Dick's regular column. It had apparetnly been sold to Robbie Ker, who was to take delivery of it following the Nissn-Mobil races. I THINK....
