Since it's on the promo poster I'm hoping that the Mustang is there. As the guy had it at Eastern Creek it would be nice if it was.

Is anybody from the Gold Coast area heading up for this? I have never been there, so was hoping to cruise up in tandem, so I don't get lost[sh]

EDIT: I'm heading up on Sunday, as I can't be there Saturday.

The halcyon days of the Lakeside circuit, when Dick Johnson ruled and the circuit was the scene of some of the greatest touring car battles ever staged, will be re-lived on September 19-20 at the inaugural Shannons Lakeside Classic Speedfest.

The highlights of the full historic programme at Lakeside Park will be the return of spectacular Group C and Group A racers, pitting some of the best-known touring cars of the 1970s and 1980s against each other on the picturesque, undulating circuit 30km north of Brisbane.

A highlight for Ford fans will be the sight and sound of Dick Johnson's famous 'Greens Tuff' XE Falcon, which will return to the circuit a quarter of a century after its racing heyday.

Johnson's famous No.17, 650HP Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 Group A touring car will also be doing demonstration laps at the meeting alongside the ex-Bob Morris A9X Group C Channel 7 Torana, while 1965 Bathurst winner Barry 'Bo' Seton will wheel out his Group C Capri.

Other circuit events at the Lakeside Classic Speedfest, which is scheduled to become an annual event, include races for Group N Historic Touring and Sports Cars, Trans Am Tribute Cars and Open Wheelers.

Dick Johnson's Jim Beam merchandise truck will also be present, offering fans the opportunity to get DJR tee shirts, caps and other V8 Supercar memorabilia.

Now resurfaced, with a new tunnel under the track, Lakeside Park is just 30km north of Brisbane and is only 10 minutes' walk from Dakabin Railway Station

Entry to the Shannons Lakeside Classic Speedfest costs $20 on both Saturday and Sunday, with a weekend pass $30. Children 12 and under are free, with students 13-16 and pensioners $10 each day.

I went out today and i must say from my own opinion i am happy that i will be going to a friend's son's birthday and then spending the day at the beach, was a little disapointing.
The Bowden's had the 84 Palmer Tube car out there but it was only for display. Whilst speaking to Dan Bowden about the car doing a parade lap tomorrow the mechanic discovered the old girl had no brakes whatsoever and he was not a happy man. She will be going back to the workshop to have a big overhaul.

I had a great day today, at Lakeside. The XE didn't run, but the Moffat PhIII, Johnson Bowe Sierra, and Morris A9X all did a pile of laps, and whoever was driving the Moffat #9 Falcon wasn't holding back....very cool stuff.

Watched a bunch of great racing, spent some time with 'LEO", and got way to much sun. Watching the Anderson Brothers '85 Group A Mustang stomp on the Commodores was pretty cool too.[bw]

Dan Bowden was driving the Moffat championship winnimg PhIII, Garry Hinton the A9X Torana and Garry's son was driving the Sierra.
The Mulvihill/Nightingale Rx7 is Chris Bowden's pride and joy.
