Well, you lot have all had your fun at the lanch and test day, now it?s my turn! The preparations are well underway for the trip to Clipsal. The boss has approved my leave, (including a recovery day), my liver has been cleansed, and I?m bracing myself for 4 days of XXXX gold.

This year there have been some changes made, with the realignment of turn 8, and all grandstands now shaded, though will still be keeping the fluids up. The weather forecast so far is looking okay, with 30 degrees for Thursday and Friday, and 28 for Saturday with a 50% chance of 1-5mm. Looks like there may be bit of a change coming through over the weekend, but hard to know this far out.

With the changes to the way the garages are allocated, I will be in the prime position, sitting directly opposite the DJR pits. With Wankinshaw racing wanting to hold hands and all be close together, they will be right down the end, and I won?t have to look at them, which can only be a good thing.

I?m really looking forward to getting a look at the cars out on the track, and hopefully being there for the first DJR podium of the year (feeling fairly confident about this actually), and will try to keep you guys updated with what?s going on, maybe even post a few photos!

Thanks PB, look forward to some photos and updates from the weekend. Drink plenty of JB's and chuck the empties at those red cars as they go past.

Make the most of the weekend as that's all you'll have until next year. We still have three test days, Gold Coast, QR and Townsville to get through before the end of the year. :D

Have just seen the forecast for next sunday. 24 degrees and mostly cloudy, 40% chance of <1mm rain. I'm guessing there will be a change coming through on Saturday arvo/evening. All in all, if it stays that way, good weather for racing.

Wouldn't mind throwing the odd full one...it would do more damage although I am not a fan of wasting a JB :D

Okay, have managed to survive day 1 of Clipsal. Which isn't really much of an achievent, as all the heavy lifting is still to come. There have been some slight changes with the new temporary grandstand (looks fairly permanent to me!), and the addition of shade.

The V8s didn't make it out on track today, but all the other supports did. Great to see Grant Denyer out there for DJR in the fujitsu's. Only a few minor incidents, Only saw the GTR safety car out on track between categories.

Am really happy with the garage allocation this year, my seat is directly between the garage for 17 and 18, and the first 8 garages are fords. Life doesn't get much better than that!

Didn't spend much time out the back of the pits, which are a sizeable increase on last year. Briefly had a chat with JC, and he was looking forward to getting out there for practice and qualis tomorrow.

Out the back...

If you look really closely, you can see the Walkinshoddy garages right down the very end. Scrutineering is in the middle of pit lane.

And what the view looks like under the shade, up towards turn 1.

All in all a good day, looking forward to the first competitive outing of the v8's tomorrow. Oh, and had a bit of a wager myself, $6 for jnr to finish in the top 3 in race 1. Don't let me down!

Thanks for the pics PB. It has been 3 years since I have been to Clipsal and your pics make me wish I was there this weekend. You are in for an awesome 3 days so I hope the boys can turn it on for you. Get some JB's into you and I hope your investment yields a return! Cheers, Rob.

I am bloody jealous PB.
I have been the last three years and it is an awesome event. Have a good time and sink a few JB's for me!

Thanks for posting the photos PB. The shade sails are a welcome addition to the grand stands. It looks like you have a prime spot opposite the DJR garages too.

Cheers

Well done P.B. & Thanks.
First 8 Garages for the Fords for this year is an Awsome thing and something the Red side will have to get used to being down the back.
Where they belong. ( Get down the back! ):D

Well, have made it home after day 2 at the track. Have been a bit tired and emotional today, but that's no-one's fault but mine! Still managed to get to the track in time for first practice session, A Davo did his enginge just as I got there.

Friday is one of the better days at the track, with all categories having a go, with most having their first race. As per usual the aussie racing cars put on a good show, the utes seemed relatively tame, and the fujitsu's were chaos. Wade Aunger was doing the ute commentary, and made a few comments about the jesus ute, along the lines of, 'I bet he's saying oh jesus now, and he has jesus alongside him now!'

Bit disappointed with Jnr's quali time. Looked like he had the goods for most of day, just couldn't get it going when it counted. Had a smile on my face when Davo locked up in the last sector of his shoot out lap. Karma.

With several times being DQ'd in shootout, the 18 car will be right in front of me on the grid tomorrow, as I am in between the 2nd and 3rd row on the grid. Looking forward to it!!

In the fujitsu's, major coming together on the first lap took a few cars out. It's a fairly small grid this year. Denyer took himself out a few turns later, locking up and going straight on into a wall. Went a lap down getting it fixed, but made up a few places by the end. I guess the story of the day was James Moffat. Great driving by him to hold off David Russell, awesome job. Yesterday he had a bare car, by today, Fujitsu has come on board.

Looking forward to the race tomorrow, should be a cracker. Both JC and Jnr have the pace, I just hope jnr doesn't get caught up in someone elses brain fade starting in 14th. Will be at the track early, heading to the team mates gathering first thing. Go the Beam team!!!

Here are a few snaps from today....
