Hi

Im in Adelaide working for a year...Hopefully More...(I have been here since Dec and my family and I have had our fist hot Christmas)

But i want to know a few things.

Backm home I have a Seat Altea as my family car.

I have had a Omega as a car since Dec but I can now pick my car for the duration of my stay.

I want a AWD Estate but cant find many in Adelaide.

I have driven a Ford Territory Turbo and like it.

Would this be a good car for a 4 person family.

And what races should i go to ?

I have Tickets for Adelaide and want to go to Bathurst but I can get a week off for another race.

Where sould I go....I want to go somewhere thats Australian and Family Friendly...(We have herd that Bathurst is not good to take the family to)

I was thinking the Gold Coast race or perhaps one in Sydney as the wife wants to see the Harbour Bridge...Since she saw it on TV at NYE.

So any suggestions.

If you think Bathurst in not good for a family where should I go ?

I have the Territory and it is a very good car, especially if you're going to be doing a bit of driving.
If you're going to any races the three I would go to would be Adelaide, Bathurst and Indy on the Gold Coast, there is no other event like it. Only trouble is the racing gets in the way of all the action that goes on around the track. Sydney is not a well supported event by the locals and can be a bit quiet for atmosphere. If you only have three events to go to these are the ones I would attend.

dont forget that if you do decide to go to the bathurst race that there is a family camping area at the top of the mount.

We always camp in the paddock behind the Pits, and it's very tame down there. It's really only deep in the camping area on top where the trouble is.

Try Sandown in Victoria and Oran Park in NSW.
Hate to say it but Bathurst is Blokes Only, wouldnt take a family there these days.

I looked on google maps and it look like i can drive to Bathurstin 3 hrs from Sydney is that right

As well as the GP in Melbourne...Am i correct that the V8's are there as a supporting class ?

Haven`t been there my self but heard good reports from friends who have been over the years is Darwin.Could not compare to Bathurst or Indy but more family orietated.Might be a bit hot but.

Can thoroughly recommend Darwin. Have been a few times. The weather is great, and there's plenty of shade provided. The crowds aren't huge, so it's no dramas walking through the paddock, getting the chance to chat to the teams and drivers. Also, a great holilday destination at that time of year, particularly coming from Adelaide.
