45 years since Dick's first race celebrations
Back in November, 1964, a determined young Australian by the name of Dick Johnson took his FJ Holden road car to race at Queensland's Lakeside Raceway. He took part in two events, winning the second.
Dick commented, "I had one lose in the first race, which was because everyone had tried it and I thought, damn it, they can't do it but I can. The idea was from halfway through the Carousel you'd hold it flat all the way out, but I lost it. I won the last race of the day outright, beating a guy called Kevin Johns in a Cortina and another FJ."
To help celebrate Dick's first race, the busy bees in our merchandise team have thrown together a range of merchandise specifically to celebrate this momentous occasion. Some of you may have already seen our DJR 45yr Hoodie and DJR 45yr Cooler. There will be a few more items added to this collection, so stay tuned to the DJR Shop!
Did you know that whenever you purchase Jim Beam Racing merchandise every dollar goes directly into running The Team?
