watched the footy show last night... some how i think with Qld having the best backline in Australia at the moment... maybe the blues might not have a chance at winning... but in saying that it can be done...

I remember looking at one of those at Kloster Ford in Newcastle way back when and dreaming.

Have a read of the condition report; second thoughts, why bother!!

Fingers crossed when Dick pulls the motor down there isn't too much wrong with it. Last year at the Super GP it instantly lost oil pressure so Dick shut it off straight away. It appears to be internal, maybe the oil pump drive hopefully. We will know very soon how large or small the engine rebuild job is going to be. The plan is to take the car back to the Gold Coast again this year, so Tru Blu will be back together fairly quickly.

Cheers

Would I be right in assuming that the engine rebuild on Tru Blu is a case of we'll do it when we have time, otherwise, I would have thought it would be done by now.

It's a case of Bowdens asking DJR to do it before the Gold Coast round as it will be part of the action, hopefully for a few more laps than last time.

That is exactly right Gerry. With the 8 week break coming up for the V8's, DJR have time to get it running again. It would have been done much earlier in the year, but the car went to Top Gear in Sydney and then back up to Bowdens.

HI John

Are there plans to restore her to her period-correct livery (ie "proper" sign-writing and colouring)?

She is still such a very special car, and I think she deserves it.

You know Tony too??? ;)

Not sure if you've seen it, but the July/Aug edition of Australian Muscle Car is worth a read. It's got Tru-blu on the cover, and the feature article celebrates 30 years of the XD including interviews with DJ amongst others. And if that's not enough, there's also 50 fabulous falcons.

I agree Henry. Tru Blu is a very special car for alot of people and it will get returned to the Bathurst 1981 livery eventually. When Dick bought the car back from Alf Grant, it was painted white on the lower half. The roof is still the correct blue. The boys at DJR slapped a coat of blue on it and whacked some period correct stickers on it, but it isn't displayed as any particular race or event currently.

The plan right now is to run the car at the Gold Coast with Dick behind the wheel. This car won Bathurst 30 years ago, so it will be cool to see Dick back behind the wheel before the end of 2010.

Cheers
John
