XC. It's owned by somebody in NSW. Was used in the Shannon Noll film clip for 'Drive'. A car like that didn't deserves to be subjected to such a crap song!

hehehe

It is now in the UK. There is a guy there who runs a museum called Cars of the Stars or something similar. It has cars like the Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang car and Batmobile I think.

My guess is that it was an XB Hardtop althogh it could easily have started life as an XA, but there is a whole website devoted to the car and the Mad Max films.

I was on the right track, but to answer Joe's question, I read quite a fair bit, and have a decent general knowledge. Also, I love my motor racing.

Yeah, the Street Machine Ford special (that had MR JUCY's XD in it) had a replica of the interceptor... the original was an XB, as evidenced by the dash. As an aside to Beejay's post, the cars in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" were fabricated by none other than Frnak Gardner.

And Frank did the work as an employee of Alan Mann Racing. Another of their employees was one Howard Marsden.

I don't think Australians realise how much Frank was involved in official Ford programs. He raced a Trans Am Mustang, the Ford P68 prototype sports car and Falcon Sprints.

Alan Mann also built a pair of Escorts powered by Ford FVA (Formula 2) engines which Frank used one of, to win the BTCC in 1968. The sister car made it's way to Australia to be raced in Sports Sedan by... Allan Moffat.

Where's that car these days I wonder?

Frank was also a development driver for Porsche in the days of the fearsome 917... there are some gut-busting stories from that era...
