you bet we can...

I would love to get everyone's thoughts on what they seriously think what this year may hold for "The Team". I have a very confident feeling that we are going to do very well in 09 and that DJR will suprise many people along the way, and finally silence the knockers (namely GTR Tragic) once and for all.

Having the privilege of being at the team launch and the test day, I could not help but notice how settled everyone appeared, the whole team appears gelled at the moment and oozing with a bit of belief and self confidence, I truly believe it is our time, time to return to the glory days, up where we belong.

Your thoughts??

Yes I agree with your comments. Can we win the championship this year, yes everyone has an equal chance to win. Will we win is another question. I think that a possible second or third in the championship this year is a very real chance. I don't mean that it can't be done, because it can I just think that there may be another step on the ladder that DJR needs to take. With the two main ford teams (888 and FPR) are going to be hell bent on winning this year. I think DJR will really take it to them both and cause some upsets along the way.

I would have to agree with "The Team" being the main focus of this year?s campaign has definitely put spring in the steps of the whole team, including supporters. With James coming on board and Steve continuing his way up to the pointy end plus the added bonus of the mighty FG?s this year will be full of surprises and wins. Yes it is time for the glory to come back to DJR right where it belongs.

I for one have not been so optimistic about the start of a new season for DJR than I am this year. 'The Team' has just been chipping away gradually for the past two seasons in old equipment and they have succeeded in surpassing all expectations in the process. Morale is high after a round win and 3rd in the teams championship last year, so with new cars, a new driver, increased funding and stability within the team, DJR has to be in the best position they have been in for about 8 years I reckon.
Can we win the Championship? That remains to be seen. The competition is very strong out there and with the new variables in terms of fuel, tyres, race formats there is a lot of unknowns. But will DJR be up there fighting for race wins? Absolutely!!! I would like to think that we will be regularly knocking on the door for round wins. To that end, I wish Dick, Charlie and all at DJR every success for the year ahead. May 2009 be the year of DJR! Go get them Steve and JC...we will be riding with you!

Let's just say that the $15 offered on SportsTAB for Courtney to win the championship was generous enough for me to purchase a piece of the action.

Sure can! The speed JC showed in the opening stint at Bathurst last year anything is possible on one given day. Put these days together and with improved consistantly as shown last year, We have a genuine contender! GO JC! [drive]

I think we are in with a real chance for the championship. Look at what a great job they did with the cars last year, and lets face it ,they may have had 888 suspension but they were the oldest cars in the field. I would like to see Steve step up and show the knockers that he he is a top level driver worthy of his seat in the championship, as i think this could be a make or break year for Steve. But if Courtney can keep it clean as well as quick, race wins are sure to follow

A lot of new combo teams this year and all top Ford teams with new cars, rivalry within the ford ranks ie SBR & FPR vs the rest. New teams and combos in Holden too.
It will come down to which driver has the most fire in the belly - who REALLY wants it the most and who wants to work the hardest and the longest - fight for every corner, every second, in practise, qualifying and the races.
The cars and teams are almost equal and for that matter so are the drivers, it will come down to the most smallest of things over the opposition which will equate to become the greatest deciding factors in winning this series.

So in other words - harder to pick than a broken nose!:D

I think its DJR's best chance of a good showing in many a year, everything has come together Finally all the rumour and innuendo about the teams future are gone, and this great group of guys can finally show what they can do with some decent machinery IM PUMPED.
But as always the championship will be decided on luck & who makes the fewest mistakes.

In a nutshell I think our chances are just as good as 888, or any of the likely contenders.

My reference for this are the results from 2008 with the two oldest cars/chassis in the entire field. if the test day is anything to go by James is ready, and Steve has been for some time. It will all come down to what happens in traffic now that the boys have the same equipment as the so-called favourites.

I don't see why not!! The 888 cars are proven race winners, throw in a donk from DJR, a couple of handy steerers, and the cards are starting to be stacked in our favour. I guess it will come down to how quickly the team can get a handle on the new car, fuel etc.

Testing days don't give much of an indication of what's to come. We will have a better picture of where we are at after practice/quali's at Clipsal. I have a good feeling about 2009.

There's certainly no reason why we can't.
We've got 2 good steerers both with new cars. For mine, the djr cars will be better than the 888 cars in the engine dept so that should give them an advantage over them. FPR will continue to run hot and cold as long as they have no onboard bar adjusters - it's only a little thing but it's let them down in the past.
The SBR cars won't handle as well as ours, will go close in the engine dept but will lose out with the drivers.
There's no-one else to worry about.
