DJR Team Penske34 mins
Statement from Ryan Story – Managing Director – DJR Team Penske on Scott Pye accident.
“The whole DJR Team Penske crew were devastated as we watched Scott’s accident from the pits. The team’s performance this weekend, led by Scott has been outstanding, so it is very disappointing to see him crash out in such a way. Our initial technical inspection suggests the car may have broken a steering arm on the run down into Reid Park pitching Scott into the wall.
“He is battered and bruised of course, and we suspect he may have broken one or two ribs. Dr Carl is supervising some checks at the Orange Base Hospital so we know he is in great hands. We wish Scott the speediest of recoveries.”

Was a nice change to have a car with a real shot at a podium for most of the race.

Looks like something broke and !@#$ED Up what was looking like a great result for the team.

Next year.....

The in car video really shows it . . ., he turns left and it almost tears the wheel out of his hands as it goes straight on. . . .[rt]

Good News !!!

Scott Pye has been cleared of serious injury following his crash in the closing stages of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

The team has confirmed via a brief social media update that Pye has been cleared from hospital and “is sore and bruised but no broken bones.”

“I’ve been cleared of any serious injuries, which is great news,” wrote Pye via his own Facebook page. “A banged up right foot and an injured chest will leave me sore for a while."

While it's great that he hasn't broken any bones, it's often a much longer recovery for tissue damage.
Breaking the bone seems to be easier on the tissue.

If he is not 100% right, I hope for his sake that he skips the Gold Coast - it simply isn't worth it.

not a bad weekend for #17 overall, the bad end notwithstanding. It was pretty obvious from the first shot of Pye's accident that something wasn't right on the front right corner of the car, sitting down awkwardly, smoke from that tyre/wheel/corner, and the in-car confirmed it. He's lucky he's only bruised, it was a monster hit!

Good work team, we're no strangers to Panorama Heartbreak, and you did us proud all week.

The car was circulating very well up to that point, and I reckon that if someone else had cause that safety car Pye would have capitalised on that position once the cars were bunched, . . if and ands. . .
