Just a thought, lets imagine Junior did decide to leave DJR what would you prefer to see happen to the famous number 17

A) Stay with DJR with someone else driving

B) Number retired unless Steve comes back to DJR or Jett is ready to race for his Pop

C) Go with Junior to his new team after all he is still a Johnson

In order of my preference:

B
B
AND
B

But in case the youngn don't want to race, we could be waiting along time to see it on the track again, so keep it in use with the DJR team. The chosen driver better be prepared to change his surname. Junior , " get back on the job son" and give young Jett some brothers and sisters.

IF the ever team ceases to be DJR, and I hope I never see that day, #17 gets retired for ever. *respect*.

I've tried, but just can't imagine it.

If it happend. I would send request that the #17 be retired. This is of course after spending many weeks in a state of depression.

The other option would be to use #18 and #19 and carry #17 on both the cars as a brand name.

It's such an iconic # that's totally connected to DJR & the Johnson name in particular. Would be VERY hard to imagine any other name on the side of a #17 DJR Ford. I do agree it should be retired untill Jnr (If he leaves) decided to come back but, if young Moffat ever makes it through to the main game with DJR, I could really handle seeing a Moffat at the wheel of a DJR #17 Ford...

It would have to be retired. #17 without Johnson on the car just wouldn't be right. It is a bit like 05 and Brocky - it just has to be that way.:)
