I'm a bit cautious on this one - it could also be DJR selling out to Penske therefore no more DJR? [sh]

Be interesting to see if this is the case. From all the media reports ambrose is also linked to this as a return to v8supercabs

Sooner or later DJR will go, I'd rather see Dick sell out than fold up.

Love to see Dick happy he deserves that for sure, but would like to see a strong DJR with Steve J or others running the business as DJR by name.

But since Aussie Ford Falcons are going to be out of the picture soon, it might be a good time to take up lawn bowls.

It would be good to see one of the US race teams come over and put a boot into the ass of these local bigshots who like cochbrain have ruined the category by making it too expensive so they can all get rich out of it.
The new Skaife version was supposed to address two things, the cost and parity,. . .it has been a dismal failure on both counts,. . .but Skaife is now, like Cochbrain, very rich.
Maybe Penske can get some support from the most disadvantaged teams ( everyone but T888 actually) and realy address those two issues.

Can't see it happening but if it did maybe RPR could co-exist with DJR in a 4-car operation?

Steve Johnson has never been the GM of DJR and never will be.

From what Im hearing it will be either DJR or FPR, With the FPR option it will be when Ford stops factory funding.

Legendary American race team owner Roger Penske has confirmed that he is preparing for a possible entry into the V8 Supercars Championship in 2015.
Penske, one of the most powerful businessmen in the United States, currently fields long-running entries in America’s NASCAR and IndyCar Series.
The Penske interest in V8 Supercars has been sparked through its business arm making heavy investments in Australia, including the local Western Star truck distributorship.
“We think 2015 would be the time that we could be ready,” Penske told News Limited journalist Paul Gover at the Detroit motorshow.
“We definitely are interested in the V8 Supercar series. It just depends on when we’re in a position. Right now we’re just getting our business settled.”
Penske’s right-hand-man, Tim Cindric, was dispatched to the Sydney 500 last December where he was guest of the Dick Johnson Racing and Ford Performance Racing teams.
The visit followed two trips by Penske to Australia, where he is known to have met with DJR and V8 Supercars staff.
A partnership with Dick Johnson Racing looms as the most likely option for Penske, whose NASCAR outfit switched from Dodge to Ford last season.
Ford’s interest in the category beyond 2014 is currently unclear ahead of its planned culling of local production and with it the Falcon model in two years time.
The manufacturer’s global racing boss, Jamie Allison, joined Cindric in visiting the Sydney event last month.
Penske’s American ties meanwhile could also help V8 Supercars’ quest to twin a return to the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, with a second event in North America in 2015.
Penske currently promotes the Detroit Grand Prix IndyCar event, which is run on a temporary circuit at Belle Isle each May.

It wasn't that long ago that we all would have been very upset about a DJR buyout. It seems now that most of us fans would be happy to see it happen so long as Dick stays on as team figurehead. I think it comes down to any DJR is better than no DJR. Whatever happens I hope the Johnsons come out of it content.

I'd rather see it stay as a family operation,. . . . but yeah

Does anyone know how long Wilson Security has signed on for with DJR? Im thinking if Penske comes in in 2015 they will surely brand the cars with Western Star.
The TV deal would have a hell of a lot to do with Penske looking to buy in, I also read somewhere that they have a freight company aka Toll looking to expand into Australia.

If DJ was to sell up I would be all for it, But being DJ he would be around somewhere at a V8 Supercar round as he is not an avid gardener lol.
