No QR round in 2010 ?

Just heard that the QR round may not be dead and buried. Hopefully we'll have some news by the end of the week. Appears someone may have grown some balls and suggested that if QR does not go ahead you can count on no funds to support a race on the coast.

Still Not 100% yet...

"V8 Supercars Australia is awaiting receipt of a contract brokered by Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale which may provide Queensland Raceway with a one-year lifeline in 2010..."

"V8 Supercars Australia acting CEO, Shane Howard, today confirmed a new deal was pending but that a final contract and services agreement was yet to be sighted by the company. He said that if the deal is to be agreed it would only provide a one-year lifeline to the ageing circuit and some breathing space for track management to properly address concerns with the facility."

How bout this then.. (from same article)

"We want the drivers to understand it is more than about them, it is about the fans.

Cr Pisasale said "a simple makeover" of the track was likely to take place before this year's even from April 30 to May 2, the focus of which is an upgrade to corporate facilities."

So which one is it about, the fans or the coporates??

I haven't been to the paperclip before, but have been to Hidden Valley a few times, and they seem to be able to adequately provide shade for the general punters. Maybe they should talk to them.

One of the sticking points for Tetly seemed to be that Cochbrain would only sign up to a one year deal each year and then try to batter him down the following year and it sounds like that was every year. I suppose for us it's good that the round may be back on, but there's still a lot of uncertainty about running future rounds there.

Having experienced the Hidden Valley round in 2003 and having been to every round at Qld Raceway since it's inception, Qld Raceway couldn't organize a night in a brothel with a handful of $50 bills.
