Ive uploaded Doug's latest feature, on the '81/'82 XD Falcon, and she's a real cracker...

"With the rock incident well and truly behind him, Dick now had the weight of the country on his shoulders, as their pledges, along with the dollar for dollar guarantee by Edsel Ford, gave his dedicated team $74324.00 to budget with for the following season"

T'riffic article on a hero car. Tru-Blu was a God's send for Ford fans throughout the country, who had endured "Formula Holden" for three very long years. It's easy to forget that the old girl competed succesfully for four seasons - two very competitive years in Dick's hands, and several creditable finishes for Alf Grant... in my eyes a fitting tribute to the skills of its creators.

Thanks for the great feature, Doug!

Now 24 years on after the rock(seems like yesterday) Can you imagine how much pressure DJ was under to perform in 81. It must have been enormous. And what a fairytale ending, 81 ATTC & Bathurst champion. Thats what makes him a legend to us loyal DJR fans and why I have been following him for near on 25 years & will always continue to follow the mighty DJR thruogh thick & thin..

Henry, always fun to relive old memories, and to see the younger members learn about the history of our hero.

Yes, everything gains something with the benefit on hindsight, and nostalgia... guess that'swhy I'm enjoying AMC mag (although I missed their feature on Tru-Blu). Dick's continued involvement in the sport maintains a link for us - ahem - more experienced fans. SOme of the other blokes from days gone by seem to have lost a bit of their relevance sadly.
