My one and only post on Seton in this forum

  • 1. "Your knowledge and input is always welcome but please respect the team, the drivers and other members. Abuse or harsh criticisms will not be tolerated".

    2. "This forum is designated 'Family Friendly' - (ie. we have young & impressionable readers - even if they're not Members/Posters) - therefore language must be moderated! - (how would YOU feel about YOUR 9 year old reading it?)

    3. "Use of characters (eg. #$*@!) that only 'partially' disguise an intended vulgar/offensive word(s) is unacceptable!
If you MUST express yourself in such a manner... use ***** and let the reader's imagination 'fill in the blanks'."

    Thank you for your cooperation.

I was extremely bitter last Friday morning to read of Glenn Seton's impending departure from DJR. My frustration boiled over to the point where I was lambasting Dick and DJR management, for what I felt was a poor decision.

I would like to apologise for any insinuations I made on Conrod about this site, and Mitchell. I hope he will accept my apology unreservedly.

I wish Will Davison the best for 2006. I personally believe that he will be beaten by Glenn in the championship standings should Glenn earn an LMS ride, however.

I also wish DJR all the best for the future. I want to remember the good times at the beginning of the year, where life at DJR felt good for Glenn and his many supporters, particularly Barbagallo, Bathurst and Hidden Valley, where Glenn had truly competitive cars to race. One cannot help, but accept the umpire's decision, as hard as it is to take.

I hope that one day, I'll be congratulating DJR and Glenn Seton for when they win championships, despite my bitter disappointment over the decision, which will never heal, sadly.

I will continue to post on the forum, for I feel, I still have a substantial contribution to make, especially in the Trivia section.

I will not rant anti-DJR posts on here, as I have respect for Mitchell and this site. I will leave those posts to the other forums, which I'm sure you will understand.

Thank you.

Your much more understand man then I'm SF!!!! I am a man of principles & the way in which Dick/DJR have treated Glenn Seton is shameful & a complete disgrace.. If you guys want to keep following a man of this quality, good luck to you all... I don't want anything to do with Dick/DJR.. Which therefore means I'll never post on this website again, after this one!!!!

And I'm not pissed off Dick sack Glenn.. It is a business after all & Dick can do whatever he wants, I'm pissed of at the handling of it all... To keep saying to Seto, we are not sure we want you, whilst letting your son look for a ride else where & have Seto hanging just in case your son does leave.. Then when he can?t get one else where kick Seto out & keep the son, is just plain wrong...

If you thing this is a good thing for DJR, then you clearly don't read other website including DJR.com.au..

It has been good chatting to you all.... but bye!!!

I am a man of principles too Joe, and that is why I think your comments and criticisms elsewhere over the past few days have been way out of line. I suggest you view my other post under "Chat".

Thanks for your words SF. I personally would certainly welcome your continued posts on this site.

The problem is Joe, if you do decide to come back, is that I am a man of principles as well. My beef is not with the site, rather DJR and their handling of this situation. Therefore, in my opinion, I just cannot leave this forum, because my favourite driver has been sacked by the team that is supported by this website, because they welcomed us with open arms, and still do, if you read the topic in the Chat section. I hope, Joe, that you continue to post on here, but I do not want to force you to do anything that you do not want to do.

Ok I know I don't post here very often but I felt I must say something after sitting back and reading so much crap on many Forums including a few on this one in regards to Seton being sacked.

First of all he wasn't sacked from what I am lead to believe, DJR decided not to take up the "OPTION" of his services for another year, meaning he had a one year contract with the OPTION of a further year if DJR wanted to exercise their option. They didn't, Why? no one knows yet. So why then does everyone say he was SACKED and start bagging the crap out of Dick and DJR?

The other rumour doing the rounds is that Seton wanted to have more input/control of a team and DJR wasn't interested, hence his supposed link to LMS who are chasing a person to share the load with Larkham. But this maybe a load of rubbish as well, but does anyone really know yet?

Also there has been no official reason for his departure so I feel it is very premature to be bagging Dick and DJR until some one comes clean with some facts. Most people who are seriously sticking the boot into DJR and Dick are Seton and Holden supporters. check their user names and Avatars of some of them on the other Forums.

So if you don't want to support Dick or DJR because of this just means you were/are not a true DJR fan, just a "Johnny come lately" because maybe you're more a Seton fan. Don't get me wrong I like Seton, followed him for years, have quite of few of his model cars and I truly hope he wins Bathurst one day, but my loyalties lies with DJR and Dick first.

Just my little rant and two cents worth
Peter

I wish Glen all the best for 2006 and I thank him for the time he gave me in Adelaide 2005 at a DJR function.

I am dissapointed with DJR but like my kids I wont disown them when they do something I dont like.

My grandfater once told me "Dont get upset over things you cant change or dont affect you directly"

I should listen to the old bugger more.

Even tho we really saw it coming I too was very very disappointed in the team when the announcment was made & still am really as from the outside it definately looked poorly handled but you never really know what's going on behind the scenes I guess.
I'll be devastated if Glenn doesn't get a seat next year but hopefully something will work out & he'll find the team to see out his years as a driver he's been looking for.
As for DJR as I mentioned I'm very dissappointed with them but I'm sure I'll get over it & I hope they know what they're doing despite appearances from the outside.
I promise I'm not going anywhere too.

Good post Pete!

I too think everyone(and I include myself!) was jumping the gun and letting thier emotions get away from them. I am still disappointed that Glenn won't be with DJR next year but I will wait and see what comes out in the wash.

Everyone seems to be bagging Dick and DJR for thier business acumen or lack of, however DJR started very small and has grown into what it is.

Nobody really knows what has gone on behind the scenes, and for fear of upsetting a few people here, I would also like to point out that Glenn has not always been forthright when it comes to business dealings... just ask Bo'!

What did actually happen between Glenn and Bo? My understanding was the failed engine wasn't the only reason behind the split. Anyone care to explain?

I'm not really sure either I've always been under the impression that Bo knew at the start of the year that he was being replaced the next year but people like to say it wasn't until after the Bathurst blow up.
I guess some families put racing first & some don't....

GSR was a 50/50 partnership between Glenn and Bo, until Glenn decided that he wanted to go it alone. Only problem was Glenn wasn't exactly open about putting the deal together. i.e. it was sprung on Bo without any warning. This led to much animosity between the two and they were barely on speaking terms during that last year together. I am happy to see now that they have put it behind them and are getting along well.

I feel that Dick should have anounced earlier that Glenn Seton won't be driving for DJR. It's perfect timing too one day it's Glenn Seton's 200th ATCC start, the next day Seton to move on, I feel that at his age of over 40, Seton might not be as competitive as he used to be even though he still hungry for success. Few drivers over the age 40s can still be competitive. Look at Bowe & the Rat are they competitive now?

hoony, I think JB and the Rat are still competitive in the right equipment, the same goes for Seton. But it is now fast becoming a young mans sport, whether or not this is a good thing or not is up for debate.

Good post Pete!

Thanks RJ glad the post wasn't a waste of time.

Also in reference to "hoonstoppers" I think the reason nothing was announced earlier is DJR was giving Seton time find an alternative before anything was announced.

Do you really think DJR would let Seton know he wasn't required and then five minutes later put out and official announcement. I think this was all done well before we heard anything about it.

I hope there isn't age discrimination in this sport. I hope Dick did not send off Glenn because of his age. As far as age goes Peter Perfect and Dick Johnson both motorsport icons wasn't competitive in their late 40s early 50s. I'm thinking the same is happening to Glenn Seton, put him in SBR or 888 and he still might not be competitive as he (in my opinion) seems to have past his use by date and I believe that is why Dick told Seton to go somewhere else.

Talk about S*#t hitting the fan, firstly I have supported DICK since 1980 and Ford before that. I was glad to see us get Seto but we all know he was definitely not first choice, I am sad to see him go in these circumstances,(I dont think it was handles well at all) HOWEVER, this is still DICKS team, we will never know the internal goings on, but it comes down to the fact I am sure they think they are doing the right thing to move the team back to where we all want it. Some of the ranting and raving on other websites is a disgrace to the drongos writing it (get a life). Everyone is entitled to disagree with the decision or its handling and if you dont want to support DJR, ON YA BIKE. Like all fair weather friends you'll be back if ever we get our s#*t back together. It looks to me like some very hard decisions are being made,ie sponsors and seto getting the chop and hopefully big change in the engineering side of it. As for the nepotism angle I give Dick more credit than that and every time I here questions regarding Steve's ability I think back to when he was in a good AU and what JB said at Queensland a few years ago rating Steve very very highly. To me it looks like the team thinks it will move ahead building something around Steve and Will and I like you all hope they are right. I feel sorry for all the Seto men but it is a very cut throat business (A lot of people had forgotten the Bo/Glenn bust up had'nt they) Glenn will not go hungry, he still gets his money, he'll get a drive, he'll move on and be happy in life and so should others. P.S hope you seto blokes hang around so you can put S*#t on us if Seto finishes in front next year, remember its just a sport hiding in big business or is it big business masquerading as a sport[?] See you at P.I.
