My Missus, just before I met her bought a Daewoo Lanos.
It's a reliable little car but really badly put together using absolutely rubbish materials.
The dash has more cracks than a brothel.
The paint is nearly gone off the roof and if you gave it a polish you'd probably take it down to the base coat.
The door hinges are gone and the rubber around the back window fell off.
We no longer change the oil as it gets regular top ups because it leaks so much
It now has no heater and you can't change the interior demister/vents settings because the plastic they used to make it is so cheap and nasty it's all broken.
It also has more rust than a HD Holden.
This car was brand new and garaged for the first couple of years of it's life.
About the only reliability problem was when the engine immobiliser stopped working and it wouldn't start.
So on the back of the tilt tray it went to the local Holden dealer to have the immobiliser de-activated. I couldn't agree quick enough when they said they could de-activate it, as now it's easier to steal and they'd be doing us a favour if they knocked it off.
When I was talking to the towie I said he looked as if he new where he was going when he pulled into Oldfield Holden.
He said he's always taking new Cruzes and Captivas in there.
I can understand why. The little Daewoo has an old injected Camira engine and the bugs were sorted out of them years ago.
Add all the modern gear to Daewoo's new cars and you have recipe for multiple recalls and very happy tow truck drivers
I've even had a Holden service technician tell me they're cheap rubbish and very poorly put together.
Well be buying a new car in the not to distant future and we certainly won't be buying anything from a Holden dealership
