Close enough HH - It was actually 'crossed flags' one with 179 & the other a chequered!!

HH was actually more correct. The flags were not crossed but overlaid with the 179 flag slightly above and to the left of the chequer.

OK,so my question?

The Qld origin Team wore black arm bands in this evenings Origin game.

name the person they were in honour of and give a brief outline on why he meant so much to Queenslanders.

It was Dick "Tosser" Turner. He was widely regarded as one of the founders of the Origin concept and was a leading Queensland Rugby League administrator (amongst other things) for more decades than I have been around. May he rest in peace.

It was indeed, it's said that it was his pre game meet with the players that inspired the awesome 30 / nil turnaround win in game 2 .

At this point I feel the need to let out a huge vent of GLOATING, GO THE QUEENSLANDERS,

I have a question,

Who was the last person to captain QLD in a complete series (1979) before it went to Sate of Origin?

Remember 1980 and 1981 they played one off State of origin games.
