Doug, you might be able to find out whether there's any truth to the rumour in Auto Action this week that DJR are chasing Tander for the 2005 season. I certainly hope not, as I don't see Garth as a better driver than what we have now in SJ and, his comments from last years Sandown 500, where he insulted DJ, would lead me to believe there isn't much truth in this rumour.

I agree Rob 18 Tander is no better than Steve but we need him in car 18. There needs to be another expierienced driver in car 18 i think that will help Steve. Tander was a big DJR fan when he was younger he and his father were Dick Johnson supporters. If i remember correctly DJR gave Tander his first test in a V8 supercar. The comments at Sandown was heat of the moment stuff

Say it isnt so, he is one bloke I can't cop. I think DJR need a real top line driver somewhere in the team, but is this bloke him,(I dont think so), but I am biased by the amount of times he has punted Steve or anybody else that dares drive in front of him. Sounds like another early start to the silly season. From what I've seen, if we cant have Lowndes or even Brabham full time stick with Luffy, given time I think he will do a good job. If only J.B. would come back, that bloke can sort a car and still drive.

Hi Guys - Heres the official line:

Yes I know Garth got under a few peoples collars last year, but that's in the past. In terms of the future, we have not spoken to Garth at this stage, we have yet to decide what the 2005 driver line up will be.

Steve

Appreciate that thanks Doug, you wonder where these rumours start some times don't you. I have to agree with Donk on this one, that is if we can't sign a driver of the talent like Lowndes or an Ambrose, then were better off giving Luffy another run next year & reap the rewards of his natural talent & I'm sure next year he'll be a force to be reckoned with!!

No, anyone but Tander. I believe we need a real top line driver, but is this bloke him, (I dont know but I am biased by the amount of times he has punted Steve or anyone else who dares drive in front of him). If we cant have Lowndes Ambrose Ingall or even J.B or Brabham (full time), surely it is worth sticking with Luffy from what I've seen I think he is going well enough to get another season. Sounds like silly season bull#*#* to me, maybe just Tander pushing his price or ego up another notch.

I feel Tander's full of himself. After what he did to Steve twice last year he deserves to spend all his time playing in the kitty litter. I cerainly wouldn't support him if he did drive for Dick.

Apart from Skaife no other driver annoys me more than Garth, but for success at DJR Id support anyone. I dont think the timing is right. Getting rid of Luff would see 04 a wasted year of developing a driver for no gain. And Steven is looking a lot better this year and with a slightly quicker car could challenge for podiums, so I cant see any need for change. But if for some unknown reason another driver was needed, I reckon Dick should jump at Garth.

In AA yesterday (yes I still bought it) Steve Chalker has admitted that he is chasing Garth for 2005, who is most definately not staying at GRM next year! Doesn't sound like it will happen though as Tander looks like continueing his links with Holden & moving, possibly to PWR for next year, which is good as I don't think Tander is the answer to our problems. CCCCRRRRAAAAAIIIIIGGGGGG, where are you??
