How was the test day ?? Did anybody get any pics ?? Whats the inside word?? Are we looking good for Bathurst??
Yep the three of us got along to the test day and we all took pictures.
Inside word.. DJR cars sounded great and they were practising pit stops and driver changes just after lunch, means they must have got the cars as good as they?re going to get as they didn't appear to be doing a lot of laps or changing setups too much.
I also spoke to Craig Lowndes, Jason Bagwanna, Grant Denyer and Chris Pither from the development series. All were very happy to have a chat and willing to have there photos taken.
I also had a good chat to Glenn Seton, he stated a few surprising facts about SBR. I'll try and do it interview style for you guys, without the meet and greet pleasantries.
Poita: I noticed you?re in casual gear, are you doing any testing today?
Glenn: The guys are struggling with setup, no point me getting in the car doing laps until James (Courtney) gets it setup to suit himself.
Poita: SBR seem to be struggling a bit this year although James appears to be getting the hang of it at the right time of the year.
Glenn: With the cars we have this year James has done really well, he is struggling with his new car just as much as Russell is with his.
Poita: Do you think since Marcus has left that SBR has struggled with setup, I don't imagine race pace would be any different in these cars compared to last year.
Glenn: We just can't find a right setup for these new cars, we took Marcus's old car out at the last test day and applied all the same settings as these cars and we were doing better times in that car than what it did last year, so its not to do with the fact that Marcus is not here but its these new chassis we can't get setup the way it should.
Poita: Are you looking forward to Bathurst this year, you are still a sentimental favourite with a lot of people. I for one would love to see you win, if of course DJR can't.
Glenn: Can't wait, Bathurst is a race I still really want to win.
Poita: What about next year, are you trying to get a fulltime drive or get into another category?
Glenn: No, that's it for me as far as V8 Supercars go, I'll just be doing the three up car and the odd race here and there in other cars. I have no real desire to get beck into the V8's.
Poita: Why not, you still have a lot of fans out there who would like to see you back in the main game.
Glenn: I've been at it 25 years now, I've had enough.
Poita: Do you still have any of your old race cars?
Glenn: None unfortunately, I would love to have the old EB that I won the championship. I tried to track some down at one stage but I only know where that one is.
All in all a good day at QR, caught up with TS-50 again and got to meet our newest forum member, V8Princess.
I'll sort my photos out tomorrow and post the link up when there done.
