thanks for the concern mate. the damage on the news was insane. I got emailed a few pics and was a huge tornado storm cell. we were watching the radar and the storm was heading towards us and turned slighty and we missed it all exept light rain with no wind.damn lucky.I feel for those affected. We cannot get in conntact with my missus friend who would be in the middle of the kaos

All good where I live, got bugger all winds at my place and I'm only 20 minutes from where all the damage is.

Seeing we were in for a shit week weather wise i went to work on Sunday.
I was down at the Coolangatta airport and saw it coming over and thought that's it i'm outta here.

When i got back to Redland Bay i turned the BOM weather radar on and thought we'd better batten down the hatches.
There was a cell heading in a NE direction that came across from down near Rathdowney across the Goldy and Coomera and then Redland Bay and out to sea.
Behind it was another larger cell that was around 60 km across coming from the same direction.
It got to the top end of the Mt Tamborine and then started heading North. Another cell had formed out near Toowoomba and was heading East. These 2 meet and thats when the choas started.
I said to the girlfriend that i'm glad we weren't in the line of that as the 2 cells had become one and intensified.
From there they bashed the shit out of the Gap and surrounding areas
On the courier mail website there was a picture of a tornado spout , so i'd say that's what did the damage

Scarrrreeeeeeeey! Look like God got out the brush cutter and pruned the crap out of every thing! Plenty of 100m + trees smashed fences galore and some trees with 3m bases were just riped out the ground and lucky not to hit houses. That`s the closest this little black duck would like to get to a cyclone I can tell ya.

Bur serious, good to see everyone is OK. Or did I ask a stoopid question, and those who don't have a
'puter anymore can't reply [B)]

There was some serious rain and storms again over night and a couple of roads were flooded early this morning , hopefully that should clear by peak hour

I am glad that I live on top of a big hill. It is very wet around Brisbane this morning, with flooding in low lying areas.

Copped a fair bit of rain last night, didn't get to bed until 5.30am as we had water lapping at the front door as well as the windows that go to floor level. 102mm of rain at our place between 12.00am and 3.00am this morning, at one stage I emptied the 50mm rain gauge and it was half full again in five minutes.

Yeah, all good here. Some pretty severe lighting storms again last night, and I actually shutdown all PCs, server, and modenm when I went to bed just after 11PM.

It sounds like you all had another ruff night. Glad to hear that you guys had no house damage. Hope the storm has passed now and you can get the clean up moving. You know its bad when the army is called into help out.

I thought about moving back to Bris Vegas from FNQ a few years ago.
Glad I came to my senses.
Give me a cyclone any day over days and days of storms!
Good luck people.

Well it's come down again.

Hail reported at the Gabba, the Goldy and Ipswich.
This one didn't hang around like last nights so it was over and done with fairly quickly

Haven't seen so much water around for years

Haven't seen storms like this in years.
Back then it wasn't un-common to cop storms 3 or 4 nights/afternoons in a row.
Really it's not out of the ordinary.
It's just that they have been fairly intense

We copped a fairly intense storm a couple of days ago, but nothing like what you guys are experiencing. I hear that there might be some more coming over the next few days too. Good luck.

Have any of the QLD members been effected by the latest storms / cyclone to hit the top end. You have only just got over the first lot of bad weather only to be hit again.
