Has anyone heard anything on what DJR is doing in the development series for this year? Release dates / drivers etc?
All I think I've heard is Denyer is staying. I haven't heard a thing.

I'm sure I,ve read elsewhere DJR1718 that DJR are running 3 cars in the Fujitsu series this year. Denyer & a couple of young blokes whose names I can't remember. From Formula Ford I think..

Thats right Rob 18 there will be 3 cars in the Fujitsu series. Grant Denyer will be joined by Formula Ford standuot Andrew Thompson and F3`s Marcus LaDelle.
Denyer is also a strong candidate to secure a ride in the enduros with DJR.

So does any one know what happens to Tim Monte who drove in Westpoint colours in the Aussie racing car series.

Tim Monte will be driving the ex- GRM Commodore for Sydney Star Racing in the Developement series this year. This car has just had a full rebuild to VY specs by Dencar. Incidentally this is the only GRM V8 Supercar to be sold. Garry still owns the rest of them.

No probs TS-50, I think he will go alright, but it is a very small team, but Grant Elliot did alright with them last year and the Commodore should be alot better after the rebuild.

You are right Spook, the sponsorship fell over at the last minute, Moff' Jnr will be running a Falcon in Production Cars this year.

Good to see you back Joe!

Yeah, apparently he was in talks with a fairly serious backer, and the deal didn't come off, and there wasn't any alternatives for him to bring... looks like he's missed out completely this year

The good thing is a Falcon painted red and with number 9 and the name MOFFAT on the door will be seen agin this year, even if it is onnly in Production Cars.

I was just reading the V8 Supercar website and i think launch kind of snuck under the radar.
DICK JOHNSON RACING LAUNCHES 2006 FUJITSU V8 SUPERCAR TEAM
Dick Johnson Racing (DJR) today launched its new 2006 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series team, including popular media personality Grant Denyer.

Upping the anti with an additional car and driver on the 2005 series, DJR readily welcomes back Denyer who will anchor the team in his #81 Summit Fleet Leasing /JAXQuickfit Tyres V8.

Coming back strongly despite a touchy start in 2005, Denyer is the most senior of three drivers and will be backed up by DJR first-timers, Andrew Thompson in the #71 Latitude Developments vehicle, and Marcus La Delle in the older #61 FirstRock AU model.

The two young newcomers boast a wealth of experience and potential between them, that combined with Denyer?s racing prowess look set translate into on-track success for DJR in 2006.

?It?s fantastic to have Grant racing with us again, and with two promising new talents Andrew and Marcus on-board we?re more than pleased,? says team principle Dick Johnson.

?The boys are ready to hit the track, by the sounds of things they?re all rearing to go.?

?We have three solid cars and three equally solid drivers; I look forward to seeing what the season brings.?

Denyer takes on the 2006 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series as a Championship favourite and will juggle racing with an array of media commitments, including full-time gig as Channel Seven?s Sunrise weatherman and strutting his stuff as a contestant on this year?s increasingly popular television series, Dancing with the Stars.

?I?m absolutely delighted to be driving for DJR again this year,? says Denyer.

?It?s looking like a busy time ahead for me in general, but I?m going to ensure I get as much time in the car as I can.?

?I?m definitely looking forward to driving alongside Andrew and Marcus; I think there will be a great team dynamic.?

18-year-old Andrew Thompson has been driving competitively since he was nine and went from go-karting whiz to notable performances in the Formula Ford series.

Thompson secured a drive in this year?s Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series as part of DJR?s youth development programme, and will be steering the very Ford that took Dean Canto to a Championship win in 2005.

?I?m wrapped to be driving with DJR, it?s a rare opportunity and I?m certainly going to give my all and make the most of it,? says Thompson.

Rounding out the team is the versatile 21-year-old Marcus La Delle, who also started his racing career as a nine-year-old, as a regular on the podium in sprint cars.

Onto a variety of karting and open wheeler categories, miles of sedan experience and success in the Daewoo series, a stint in Formula 3 and testing V8 Supercars in 2005, it?s ready set go for Marcus this year with DJR.

?Driving for Dick Johnson is a dream come true, I?m so excited to be hitting the track full-time in a V8 Supercar this year, it?s my number one focus,? says La Delle.

Grant Denyer is joined by Andrew Thompson and Marcus La Delle in what is shaping up to be an action packed year for DJR, with its talented Fujitsu V8 team, V8 Supercar Championship team and new companies FirstRock Home Loans and V8 Telecom.

The first round of the 2006 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series team is in Adelaide at the Clipsal 500 in conjunction with the V8 Supercar Championship Series, from 23 ? 25 March.

interesting to note that on the official DJR website there is no information about the development series super team as I'd be interested to see some larger pics of the cars.

Plus it would also be nice if Classic Carlectable made the development series cars as well as the main series as I think it would be nice to have a full set of 2005/6 DJR cars in 1:43

If they're still using the AU, which was still fast last year and looks great in first rock colours, and Canto's championship winning car is still there, and Grant will have one of the cars from either Glenn or steve , due to his being damaged so badly last season,Does that mean that in all likelyhood we're only running one New car at the start of the season??

this is what I mean about the lack of any information from DJR to the fans , its not even up on the home site. You know i think the DJR web team are just about coming to grips with how much you have to do to get a website up and running. Not as easy as it looks , is a cliche that comes to mind.

What are you talking about? Jnr will be in his car from last year & David will be in Seto's car from last year (no new cars for 2006).. And the 2 BA development cars from last will be used again this year, plus an AU. (Where did they get AU come from, considering DJR borrowed a BJR AU for David at QLD last year)...

And why run 3 development cars for?? What a waste of time (espically considering they don't use the drivers from the development series to fill gaps in the main game series, but that is a different story).. I say, scrap the development cars or at the most run 1 & spend more time/ effect/ staff/ money etc on the main games cars... Fix #17/#18 before worring about all these development cars!!!

Joe, DJR only borrowed BJR's franshise & # at QR for Davison last year. He was driving one of DJR's old Shell AU Falcons that was apparently sitting in a corner in the workshop collecting dust. This is the chassis that will be used this year in First Rock colours. There is also talk of at least 1 new chassis for the 06 season.

Also Joe, IIRC, DJR have a development series crew that only work on these cars. Not only do DJR give young drivers a go, they also give young mechanics a go which is great for the whole V8 series as far as I'm concerned.

When you have at look at FPR's launch on sunday & notice the lack of sponsorship on the #6 car, then have a look at DJR's 5 team cars which are covered in sponsors. While DJR might not be the most popular team ATM, they are definately still popular with sponsors which is good for the future of DJR.
