Another easy question

  • 1. "Your knowledge and input is always welcome but please respect the team, the drivers and other members. Abuse or harsh criticisms will not be tolerated".

    2. "This forum is designated 'Family Friendly' - (ie. we have young & impressionable readers - even if they're not Members/Posters) - therefore language must be moderated! - (how would YOU feel about YOUR 9 year old reading it?)

    3. "Use of characters (eg. #$*@!) that only 'partially' disguise an intended vulgar/offensive word(s) is unacceptable!
If you MUST express yourself in such a manner... use ***** and let the reader's imagination 'fill in the blanks'."

    Thank you for your cooperation.

That was perhaps the most obvious question anyone has ever asked on this forum of ours..

... You really are a tragic, SF... (in the good way, of course)

I can't help it. Being a Glenn Seton fan is a labour of love. The media never picked up on this fact in 2003. Watch them claim inaccurately, when Steven Richards makes his 20th start that he and Jim are the first father-son combo to have started 20 races on the Mountain.

Hey, question, Mitchell, were you the 'Number Eighteen' bloke I once argued with over over GSR's superiority to DJR in the AU era? I'm sure you are, but can't nail it.

I'd say for the first 2 years Glenn had the best sorted AU going around but after that they lost there way abit

99 I would say FTR had the better AU untill Bathurst when DJR took over & retainded their superior car speed untill SBR picked up the mantle in 2002..

The early part of 1999 saw Mr Seton's Falcon as the quickest AU, followed by Mr Bright's SBR example. DJR were nowhere, with Mr Radisich getting to grips with ATCC sprint racing, and Mr Johnson struggling with sinus problems and the commitments of his retirement year. Mr Larkham had gone down a blind alley as per usual with his AU, and Mr Crompton's AU was occasionally quick.

The second half of 1999 saw Mr Seton lose his way with the Falcon, which was not responding to the particular set of Bridgestones used at the time. That problem would be rectified with the next Bridgestone compound introduced in Adelaide 2000. Messrs Radisich, Bright, Larkham and Bowe were becoming extremely quick with their examples, but results compared to Mr Seton were poor. Mr Seton would finish as the top Ford runner in third position.

Seton may have finished the championship in 3rd but he didn't finish the year as the quickest AU.By the end of '99 DJR clearly had the fastest AU. I still remember clearly sitting at Bathurst watching "The Rat" get further in front each time around! If only he could drive a car like it was his own instead of like he stole it, then maybe DJR would have had another Bathurst victory!
