2009, the year that was...

    Thank you for your cooperation.
The year started on a high, with many getting on board DJR?s newest recruit, backing him at the TAB for a maiden V8 championship win. How much we would all be celebrating now if that had come off. And the faith of placing the hard earned on JC was looking good with early pace at Clipsal with blistering pace. Time would come to show that JC was able to control his raw speed with consistency, something shown in spades by Jnr. Even though Jnr would prefer to be known as solid not Mr Consistency, you can?t say he isn?t a great influence on those around him.

There were highlights and lowlights throughout the year, with Bathurst being the one that got away. The fire to collect the Peter Brock trophy would have to be burning bright, and be a big motivation for 2010, along with getting DJR a drivers? championship for the first time since John Bowe in 1995.

The driving standards of the rookies, and those that should know better may have given us a tosser to tip each event, I like many, would have preferred our team to reap the rewards they so deserved, but I guess that?s racing. No point wondering about the what ifs and coulda beens.

So what have we got out of 2009? Well, we have some new silverware for the pool room, two quick and consistent drivers who will be there in 2010, no major changes to team personnel, a full year of data for two quick cars, the prospect of funding from ford for more go fast bits, the addition of a young gun keen to prove himself, and passionate fans of Australia?s longest running motorsport team. Don?t know about you, but I can?t wait for 2010.

The Stats...

Pole positions ? 1 (Jnr at Hamilton)
Race Wins ? 2 (JC at Townsville & Sydney)

Podiums ? 9
Jnr picked up 3 being Hamilton, Symmons Plains and Barbagallo
JC picked up 6 being Townsville & Sydney wins, Hamilton, Sandown, Queensland & Surfers silverware.

The team finished 3rd in the teams championship, and also picked up the best presented team award.

The team have come along way since I started with this site, going back a few years we were lucky to get a car in the top ten let alone have any chance of getting near the podium.

Well done to all at DJR, thanks for giving us a great 2009 and something to get excited about in 2010.

Yep I agree, if this is a precursor to the future, "The Team" is in the groove and ready to get some real results next year, bring it on.
