OK, it's not a trivia question.

But can anyone help me with scans of race reports for both of the Nissan-Mobil races in New Zealand at the beginning of 1987?

Any help would be appreciated.

I,m not clever enough with a computer [)]to give you the easy way Beejay but stick with me & I'll find you the results..

Google search 1987 Wellington 500 & the 1st one on the list is the Frank De Jong 1987 results page & go from there. It will give you every result from every Nissan Mobil event & every 87 wtcc event. Very interesting if you like a bit of history..

Sorry I couldn't find an easier way..[)]

LOL

Yeah I peruse Frank's site from time to time and have donated some photos as well as some race results. But I was actually after a description of the races. Both for my Club 17 article on the Mustang and for Allan Moffat stuff. Thanks anyway.

Beejay, I,ve checked just about every reference I,ve got at my disposal & come up with diddly squat unfortunately. Even the 87 year book didn't cover it which is unusual for them. Covered the WTCC round there though.

I wonder if the 87 Bathurst program covered it???

A good thought but nope, I managed to have a look there as well. All it says is that HDT had a 1-2 in one of the races.

Actually I just got what I was after. I bought a Chequered Flag mag with the race report for the Wellington street race, which was first of the Nissan Mobil races. Dick was to co-drive the Mustang with Robbie Ker, but a couple of errant cars tangled in front of Dick and the Mustang T-boned one of them, virtually wiping it out from the firewall forwards. That ended any plans for the Pukekohe race that was to follow and I believe that was the last time Dick raced a Mustang.

[:I] Well almost. If my memory has just twigged correctly, didn't Dick race Steve's 'Tranz Am' Mustang after Steve crashed and broke his leg?

Sure did Beejay. Jnr virtually had the series in his grasp when the Mustang had brake trouble resulting in a fair crash breaking his leg. DJ finished of the series in the Stang but I think Paul Morris went on to win the series..

The 1987 Wellington WTCC race as it were is detailed in Australian Motor Racing Year 1987. Cromley drove the second HDT Commodore and qualified it. Seton/Fury finished fourth, after the Seton/Bowe car was outed after a clash with the Baigent/Bowkett Skyline. Seton swapped to the Fury car, at the expense of Terry Shiel. They were the highest finishing Australian car. It was, fundamentally, another Eggenberger dominated race, with Ludwig/Niedzwiedz winning by a couple of laps from memory.

Ahhh Seton Fanatic, the races I am refering to were not WTCC races. They took place before the season started here, on Jan 25 and Feb 1, 1987. They weren't in the AMRY. Thet were the last races the HDT did before the Polarizer incident blew up and Dick's last race in the Greens Tuf Mustang.
