After some spending some time on the jig for some much needed straightening, I know that DJR received #18 back at the workshop last Wednesday.

Today DJR had a Corporate Ride Day at Eastern Creek in Sydney. I saw a clip on the news earlier this evening and Steve and James took a few of the Manly NRL players for a blast.

It appeared that Jamie was back in the FG. Looks like this was a great opportunity for a shakedown before the cars head off for NZ.

Any news on how it all went?

There's going to be a few nervous people at DJR when #18 gets out on the Hamilton circuit, it's much tighter than Adelaide and a lot less forgiving.

I hope James does well there and keeps the car straight, as supporters we would rather chew our nails over him racing rather than praying he doesn't bend it.

Very true Poita.

I'm surprised some one hasn't said to him , to finish first, first you must finish

Hopefully he is far enough in front not to worry about others & will only have to worry about himself.

One can dream!!!!

I saw the pics of #18 in back in the workshop in the team mate?s page. Hopefully the shake down was a success.

Poita, I have no doubt JC would have had a bit of a talking to since Clipsal. I am hopeful of a trouble free (and damage free) weekend in NZ.

I'm sure someone has said that to him at several stages during his career, getting him to listen , that's another thing.

I'm not sure that all the cars there were 'full-on' Race Beasts!

I only saw part of the clip, but there was a bit where one of the Manly guys was driving a fully liveried JBR car - when he stopped, he threw open the door & just 'stepped-out' (he didn't 'climb-out' - ie. no sign of the full cage & race seat).

Wouldn't the cars be 'packed' for Hamilton by now??

Surely they wouldnt let a rugby player (or any 'non driver') just hop into the car and take it for a spin. Too much on the line...
Must have been a JBR liveried promo car???

The cars on the skid pan were the promo cars, but the Cars on the track were the real deal. they were using it as a shakedown before Hamilton.

Spot on tormentor. A bit of skid-panning but there were definitely hot laps in the FG. Great for a shakedown prior to NZ, especially for the rebuilt 18.

Hi everyone, not trying to read too much into it, but isnt this similar to the Dynamik Woomera deal a few years ago - I thought teams were only allowed to run the cars at the nominated test track, outside of racing??

They weren't testing Doug.

You can do all the drive days you want using current spec cars and it's ok.

Change the setup or gather some data and you're in the shit

I think it's about time DJR built a ride car like the Stones have.

It saves wear and tear on the race cars and stops them prematurely softening the torsional rigidity.

IIRC the SBR ride car has 6 litre engine that makes more torque but has about the same HP as a 5 litre and the brake package is longer wearing but doesn't have the same performance as the V8 package.
It's a 3 up car as well so you can carry 2 passengers rather than one and form what i understand it's quite a profitable little earner for SBR

I agree bigcol, the sooner DJR build a ride car the better.

The $$$ it make for DJR would be huge especially if the great man himself was behind the wheel.

Its on my wish list.

JB17 - great idea - a ride car with Dick as the pilot would be an income stream like no other - should we petition the team??

I heard that Besnard just bought the 3up and is helping the bushfires

I think you may be correct there 79, Bezzy was at the test day with a stand and I remember seeing a V8 Supercar parked out the front, I didnt take too much notice as it was starting to piss down at the time.

Great idea there - better how about DJ ride days in TruBlu or GreensTuf?
Even if they had mock ups instead of the real cars, THAT would be awesome!
