Looks like Bargs is stepping down, who knows if it is his own doing or if being pushed.

I dare say some teams will be upset by the uncertainty it will create , but teams other than holden ones will be quietly cheering in my opinion. [y]

I don't think he stepped down, pushed down the steps maybe... :)

Unfortunately it's one of those jobs that you're dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.

Would 2 or 3 people working together make it better?

All the drivers want is a bit of consistency, right?

So for the same infringement the same penalty applied whether it is first lap or last lap and whether you're the champ or running last, . . and lastly whether you drive for T888 or any of the teams, . . and Bargs was not doing that. [jk]

Perhaps Roland Dane may have had something to do with it after the Bathurst decision, after all, he does think he runs the whole series

The Other Boss
Tough gig. Needs two people. Always appears in the first year that these guys do well primarily because they send them away and teach them how to be sensible, logical, responsible, practical...

It then it becomes harder; in no small part because, tempestuously, those aggrieved pursue their vendetta behind closed doors as well as on the box.

Fair to say that consistency in principle and practice would ultimately limit any criticism of anyone in the role.

There's a story in how many times the interpretation of the rules behind no elastics on seat belts for the enduros changed. To the stage where I think certain people lost track of what they said to whom and when and then got extremely agitated when called out on upholding "rules" that were only communicated to a few, then claiming that wasn't the case and it was consistent all along. It wasn't. Then sixty plus people in a room reading a handout and then hearing the rule explained in a manner that completely and comprehensively contradicts it...

Unrelated, I still find it ridiculous that teams can't have an authorised representative, even by sheer coincidence, who has studied or ever practiced law.

Also a lot of contracts have fixed terms. Whether they are renewed is always a decision that has to be mutual!

Ryan,
Have you heard if there is any way of nominating or if there are rumours about whom they are looking toward to fill this role. ?

There has been a suggestion that Mark Larkham might be a name on the short list, if it is , is he someone the teams would be happy with?

I just read this entire post hearing the voice of Roger Hodgson.............

It really is a poisoned chalice that job. I wonder if someone like John Bowe would do a better job? Maybe a combination of John Bowe and Jim Richards. I think both guys would do an excellent job given that they are still active competitors (albeit in another category), are highly respected and don't have any affiliation with current teams.
