I've been sifting through some of the stuff in the archives and thought I'd throw in this one from the dim dark past...

What was significant about Dick's Eagers-sponsored LC GTR race car?

Firstly, it was the 2nd LC GTR delivered anywhere in Qld thanks to connections with DJ's father & secondly it was the first GTR to race anywhere in Australia. He won the 1970 Qld Touring Car Champiomship in this car also. (where would we be without The Unforgiving Minute??) She's my motorsport bible when it comes to the early days of DJ.

Sorry ol mate, but DJR, especially the early days has been a passion of mine since I can remember. This site, although quiet at times, has brought back a lot of great great memories from the early days & who ever created this site deserves the highest praise. Well done!!

I bought "The Unforgiving Minute" virtually as soon as it hit the shops, as a wide-eyed schoolboy. A mate and I pored over it at the time, and I have just about worn it out since. Another school friend is the nephew of the late John Hough, who is pictured sitting in the 17 Cooper-Maserati which killed him at Lowood (Bill Tuckey dedicated a couple of lines to the incident, and back in the school days, the car was still under one of the family houses).

Henry, it's so funny to hear you talk about "the unforgiving minute". I remember going across the road from work every lunch hour in '84 to the local Ford dealer to see if it was in stock - geez they must've gotten peed off with me.

I bought it during a holiday trip to Brisbane, a twelve-year-old Dick Johnson fan: I had read the reviews in Modern Motor (as it was then), and relentlessly ransacked bookshops everywhere until I found it.
