Just as a little piece of dinner party conversation (if you talk about "Days of Thinder" at dinner parties :D: One of the acciedents deatured in the film shows a car cartwheeling spectacularly. This was achieved by mounting what amounted to a cannon behind the driver, and firing a five foot length of a telegraph pole thorugh the floor of the moving car, into the road . IIFC, the drivers instructions taped to the wheel were something like, turn left, hang on!

What was the 1st modification he made to the car which the Yanks laughed at him for?

What was the other modification Dick implemented to reduce the bone breakages in accidents.

Where were the bones being broken?

I remember something about that old London Bus steering wheel. Didn't DJ send one of the mechanics to a speedshop to find a steering wheel half the size?

A normal-sized steering wheel, thanks to power steering

Extended the seat swab to provide more thigh support and stop them breaking femurs.

full points to Henry. To everyone else, the autobiography is available online from Shell Helix Racing for $5.00 + p&p, or $15 from the races.

The car number was 38 and it's a long sweeping shot across the infield to the other side - maybe at Darlington but not sure
