In one of Dick Johnsons "major" victories in his career he had to endure a 10 sec stop go penalty on his way to victory in this particular touring car event. Anyone remember:

a. when & where this happened??
b. what was the penalty for??

Sandown 500 1995?

Can't remember what the penalty was for. I don't think there was a pitlane speed limit back then, so maybe overtaking under yellow?

That was short n sweet Beejay. The penalty was for hitting something in pitlane as DJ was exiting the pits after a driver change. That was also the race where Steve led the majority of the race but his co driver at the time Charlie OBrien couldn't quite match the pace of the faster guys in his final stint & fell back to 3rd. But it was a good day for DJR taking 1st & 3rd in the Sandown 500 but that was all overshadowed by the anouncement that Ross & Jimmy Stone were leaving DJR to start up there own team in partnership with Alan Jones & the Phillip Morris money that Seton had enjoyed for quite a few years & become Pack Leader Racing...

That was an amazing race SF. I thought the way #17 won that race was almost Brock-like. The car wasn't the fastest thing out there & it was almost as if everyone else threw it away & DJ & JB picked up the pieces. At one stage it looked like JNr & O'Brien were going to win in #18 but unfortunately Charlie didn't have enough pace to hold out #17 & ultimately finshed 3rd...
