Henry, the shoter Diff means that the DJR 320 at least can sit comfortably at top gear climbing hills without too much problems unlike the 6th gear in the Holdens and HSV's - they are useless just about anywhere except a flat highway because of the rediciously tall gearing in 6th gear.

The inference was that the diff ratio had been changed specifically for the Ford/Holden event... in any case, the 0.5-ratio sixth-gear in the Holden is a bit of overkill

Still have not seen a DJR 320 yet. Why Why Why[?][?][?] It's got to be a dream machine for Ford fans! The only thing that can be holding us back is today, the noise, emission level etc etc regulations is so tight that it's tough to modify the car too heavily without the cops issuing you a defect notice.I'm sure some of us like to modify a DJR320 but have no idea whether it's possible.

Good interview with DJ in Street Machine Fords last issue where they followed him in the 320 early in the year when DJ competed in that Ford v's Holden thing prior to this years Clipsal 500. Definately worth a read & good to see Dick has lost none of his sense of humour. I think one of the members of INXS was his navigator in this particular event also.

Wheels made the DJR320 look sluggish:(but how many tests they have done with this car. Usually they would do another one on these naught to 100km/h.[?]

Wheels were adamant that if the standard XR final drive ratio was installed, the car would have better standing 400 times, as one less gear change would've been required over the distance, hence an improvement of 0.5-odd seconds or something like that.

Have wheels checked what kind of fuel both cars were using that is, did they check both the vehicles engine oil and petrol to be identical - Both these vehicles at that time should be using a 98 Octane fuel such as Shell Optimax and using a fully sythentic engine oil such as Shell Helix Ultra.
