Got this from the v8 super car website..

Stone Brothers Racing (SBR) driver Shane van Gisbergen believes a newfound maturity and less compulsive racing will keep him at the pointy end of the Championship.
The 20-year-old is known for making gutsy moves but ?the Giz? said he now puts more thought into them as the V8 Supercars prepares for the Clipsal 500 Adelaide, the first 2010 event on home soil.
?I?ve settled down the last few races and just kept it consistent, but we?re still having a bit of fun and just passing cars, not taking the massive risks that sometimes don?t pay off,? he explained.
?I?m thinking things through a lot more now and picking the right moments.
?And I?m just keeping a lot more focused and keeping my head down, but really it?s a team effort; I?m just the last piece of the puzzle and we?re all working together well.?
The Giz scored his first ever V8 podium at the Yas V8 400 and then backed it up with another podium at Bahrain.
His efforts left him holding the race lap record for both Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain International Circuit and he sits third in the Championship behind TeamVodafone?s Jamie Whincup and Ford Performance Racing?s Mark Winterbottom.
Besides van Gisbergen?s driving in Bahrain, a risky fuel strategy helped elevate him from his starting place of 14th to finish third, which left him finishing the race with only four litres of fuel in the SP Tools Racing tank to spare.
The Giz heads into Clipsal wanting to keep finishing races in the top six.
?Third in the Championship is awesome and to stay there would be good,? he said.
?Some tracks (in Australia) are pretty similar to the ones (in the Middle East); Bahrain has got massive run-offs and it?s a lot safer like that, but the sweeping corners suit our car.
?Abu Dhabi had some tight corners and I think we?ll be pretty good all round for the rest of the Championship.?
The Giz believes his driving has improved, but he said the SBR Falcons have also come a long way.
?To the outside it looks like the driver does it all, but it?s really a team sport and they?re doing a lot of it,? he said.
?The cars are really strong; Alex (Davison) is doing a really good job as well.
?The guys have done a lot of hard work and we?re putting it all together now, it?s just awesome.
?We haven?t been outside the top six in race results so we?re looking forward to continuing it when we get back (to Australia).?
Van Gisbergen said finishing with two podiums in the Middle East was a ?dream come true?.
?I?d love to be on the top step, but (a podium) is pretty cool,? he said.

What are your thoughs on shane, i think he has had a wonderfull start but can he keep it up?? what do you guys think??

I think he can keep it going. I will be including him in my tips this round that's for sure. He has shown great maturity this year and matched with his raw speed, he could well be pushing for a top 3 championship finish. The Stones are pretty good judges and with their guidance I think he will go from strength to strength.
Make no mistake, the Cheeseburger is on the way up!:D

He's a talent thats for sure.

Hopefully the Stones will keep a lid on the enthusaism and mentor him along the way

Go the "CHEESEBURGER".
Has talent to burn and one of the best wet weather drivers in the series so look for him if it rains. Watching him drive in the rain at the test day proves that.

Things Change!

Tallented for sure but still not 100 percent sure that positions will remain the same for the rest of the year once all teams get back home and work on their cars. I don`t think any one has to keep a lid on him as he has already proved that.
I am not an sbr fan but now that the numbers are a bit unfair I should think about changing my opinion a bit????

So far the tracks have been wide, not too hard to pass on see how he goes sitting in traffic around adelaide. As long as it aint a DJR Ford he punts so be it.

The Gizz is fast and he reminds me of a young Lowndes, a bit rough around the edges, a bit impatient at times and a bit prone to push on in doubtfull moves, . . . . yep i reckon he's got a good future as long as they can keep a reasonable car under him[drive]

Spoke with a guy last night who works at SBR, he just came back from the overseas round and stated they tried new setups on Shane's car only, the same settings that frosty is using which made a huge difference. The same settings will now be applied to Slade's and Davison's cars for Adelaide.

Be interesting to see if those two move up the grid at all.

The impetuosity of youth... I find it quite a revelation to consider that he's still only 20 - the same age Lowndes was when he debuted at Bathurst in 1994. There is still a lot of years left to Van Giz in the category should he so desire, and he's still a long way from his potential peak... and that's quite an exciting proposition, given the bloke's speed.

Frustrating as it may have been, I found some enjoyment out of seeing Tander being hunted at Adelaide by a pack containing James, Frosty, Giz and Dumby.

Also, much as I like him, Lowndes performance looks very poor compared to Whincup. Maybe Ford 'lost' him at the right time?
