Well if it's outright bulldust, you could get them in court... particularly as that sort of speculation (whether or not it's undounded) can compromise commercial relationships (remember Chalks did his cruet over the leak of the Jim Beam thing last year) and destabilise businesses... but you wouldn't put it on the front page, and promise to devote a feature in the next issue, unless it had come from an impeccable source, with at least an element of truth.

Personally, I wouldn't mind at all if it were to be true, if for no more than to distance the name of a legendary well-respected icon from the eternal sh!tfight that the "sport" has become.

...even saved five bucks towards buying the old fella a gold watch for his retirement...

Well, that clealy puts the issue to rest. I'm glad DJR has come stright out this time & told everyone the true.. Well done DJR.

You do have to wonder if maybe the story was put up just so everyone would know about the new online mag??

Hmmm...

Chalks' comments in the Courier Mail still don't fill me with confidence. I was expecting to read a vehement "no way" or "pure rubbish" or "DJ's not for sale!"

Instead he said "...But we are not actively looking for an equity partner..." - Does anyone else feel that comment is missing a "yet" tagged at the end of it?

I don't know. I hope it's all false. . . it just sounds somewhat diplomatic and reserved? Sure it doesn't have to be emotional or loud but it doesn't come across as forceful to me?

We'll see I guess. Maybe I was expecting DJ to come out and squash the rumours, always carries more weight when he does it.

I agree Stevo, a lot of the same responses were going around when some of us were asking about Wespoint going broke.

One thing about that article, Business is Business, and even though they may not be actively looking for an equity partner , i'm sure they'd be considering any options whether they are public or private. That doesn't mean they'll accept any offer either, but they'd consider it well before rejecting it.

Ohhh boy... would be a very sad day indeed in my Sunny Queensland if this rumor were true. I've been a DJ fan since i was a wee boy, met DJ a few times, raced R/C with Steve and the V8s would not be the same without them being involved.

I've just got back from a trip & when heard I the news, I was absolutely devestated.
I just hope it truly is just a rumour, 'cause if they go entirely, it would be such a tremendous loss the the sport. And there will be no interest for me in the catagory. I love my DJR & I need my DJR.

I almost thought it was april 1! Why would DJR be looking for an equity partner now? If anything that would have happened last year. But sometimes where there is smoke there is fire so you never know.

Hi all. Found this article;

http://www.smh.com.au/news....59.html

I attended a function on Friday night at which Dick, Steve and Will were all present. I had a chat to each of them and here are a few comments;
I asked DJ about the rumours surrounding DJR and Carlin Motorport. Dick said that "...every man and his dog wants to get into V8 Supercars, and Carlin Motorsport is no different". He described the article in MNews as "bull****".
Had a lengthy chat to Will and asked about the relationship with Triple 8 and the new goodies on the DJR cars. He said the parts they have purchased centre around uprights, suspension and brakes and these components are much lighter than last years gear. He also said that the 2007 BF has less rear downforce with the new aero kit, but he believes the new side skirts are a little better. I also asked his thoughts about the new 'control' brake package and he said "...they're not too bad".
I know there has been a lot of talk about Steve's dramatic weight-loss, but I must say that it was amazing seeing him in the flesh. He looks absolutely fantastic! He said it's the result of a lot of hard work, and he is still training extremely hard.
On a side note, there seemed to be great 'chemistry' between Dick, Steve, Will and the guys from Jim Beam.
Cheers, Rob

I work for a company that is involved with DJR and it was the final night of a conference nascar!

I am sorta glad to see them deneying this rumor, but it isn't going away at all though... In fact 10/10ths are now saying Denyer Snr is all cashed up and in the running for DJR.

I think I might add the "DJR sold" topics on all the forums to the "can't be stuff keeping an interest in".. They are just full of "I have a relable source", "someone close to the team", etc, etc. In truth, they are all bull****. If there is anything to read about DJR I think I'll wait to read about in on www.djr.com.au

:D:D:D:D:D

The problem is Joe, that apart from the number of press article detailing DJR's response to the speculation, there doesn't appear to be any 'official' announcement instigated by DJR to set the record straight.

Dick said the team isn't for sale so that is good enough for me.

As for 10/10ths, It has become worse than kiddies central when it comes to rumours so I don't think I will pay it much mind.

So who else finds it amusing that the same guy who only a few weeks ago was proclaiming that he is about the only guy DJR doesn't owe money to, is now fiercely defending TKR and suggesting to people who are posting that they owe creditors a lot of money should be quiet until there is actual proof?
