Racin Jasons Winton Observations....

1. Jack Perkins is wwwwaaaayyyyy out of his depth in the main game.
2. 888 have it all over everyone else in strategy calls.
3. DJR completely stuffed Steven's weekend by not pitting him when the safety car came out.( yes I too was screaming at the TV "PIT, PIT, PIT"!!!)
4. Tander is still a fkn tool.
5. The stewards are consistently inconsistent.

That is all!

Strategy wins races...we lost!

Some positives to take from the weekend but disappointing when strategy is the difference between success and failure.

Bring on Tassie!!

Steve may not of had enough fuel to finish the race if they pitted under safety car. If he would have they stuffed his race and a podium.
Having said that everybody else finished the race from that pitstop

"Strategy wins races...we lost!".

AGAIN..........Dissapointing.....But hopefully the last time for the year..Well done Sj & A F...... shame Chanell 7 could not show us a couple of laps when you were passing 2 cars a lap for the first 6 laps INSTEAD of showing us Single cars spread out in the lead. Why in the hell would you bother watching the race at all????????

I am also wondering why Stevie went back out on the control tyre when he had only used 1 set of sprint tyres for the weekend? He already did more than half the race on his first set of sprints, so why not the second stint? May have helped him pick up a few more places towards the end of the race.

Simply because they only get one set of the sprint tyres per round.

They can however use them in the first race and then re-use them in the second. Triple 8 possibly showed why they are so good and have the wood on everyone else by putting Lowndsey on them in the first race and scrubbing them in before putting them back on in the second race and watching Lowndsey dissapear into the distance.

I think DJR should maybe take a leaf out of Triple 8's book when it comes to strategies.

My bad bartman! Thought they had 2 sets. CL confused me.

Also the Media Release for yesterdays race suggests that the reason Jnr didn't come in during the Safety Car was because he was 3 laps ahead of his fuel window. Had he pitted, he would have come out with better track position but would have had to pit again without a safety car.

JC came in that lap though and made it to the end, so I am a bit confused...

I don't think the fuel thing is credible, everyone else made the distance with the 120 liter capacity and Steve's car is no different, I just think they wanted to see if he could make a break after the safety car on the sticky's to give him time to pit later and still retain position, it was a gamble that didn't pay off except as a learning experience.

To be honest this tyre strategy is going to be a lot different on tracks where tyre wear is harsh which isn't the case at Winton,

There isa an old saying "To love the winner while he is winning, crush him when he's not"... Kinda like why the "Girls of the Playboy Mansion" root Hugh Hefner, if he went broke he'd have not a freind in the world...

What wankers, they must think supercar teams have a money tree out back to replace stolen goods. On second thought the Kelly?s most likely do

Good on you Tomas, someone finally states what we all know....

Drivers were warned

Author: Briar Gunther | Source: BigPond Sport - Copyright

V8 Supercars Driving Standards Observer Tomas Mezera said drivers were warned they would need to use their thinking caps a bit more with the introduction of the soft option tyre.

His comments come after Toll Holden Racing Team's Garth Tander slammed the driving standards in the first race at Winton yesterday (Saturday) after he was spun twice.

Mezera said drivers were briefed and they knew they needed to be a little more cautious and aware.

?We mentioned the fact, they all knew what's going on and we mentioned there would be some speed differentials, especially in this place (Winton), and the difference was about two seconds,? he said.

?All of it is done on mid-corner speeds and the braking. It just allows for overtaking. (But) you don't need to remind them.?

But Mezera said Tander - who also made contact with Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom during the race - pretty much got as good as he gave.

?He is good enough to serve it up as well, but he keeps those ones quiet, but when he gets it he's not that happy about it,? Mezera said.

And Garry Rogers Motorsport's Lee Holdsworth - who was one of the drivers to hit Tander - was not penalised because it was beyond his control.

Holdsworth's Commodore had a punctured tyre from sharp metal off Tander's damaged car, Mezera said.

?You can't hold it against Holdsworth, it's just one of those things. He's got a puncture, well of course he can't turn. You can't punish him, it's just common sense.?

Mezera said the new soft option tyre achieved its exact purpose of providing more exciting racing.

?If you look at (race one), where Lowndes came up from fourth to win the race and passing three cars on the last sort of eight laps or whatever it was, that is exactly what the public wants to see I think,? he said.

?That's what the change was designed to do and I think it worked.

?I thought it was pretty good, there was plenty of action happening there.?

Mezera said the tyres made his job a bit harder.

?Because you had some cars on the control tyre, some cars on the softer tyre and for mid-corner speeds they were a little bit faster than the cars on the harder tyres,? he explained.

?And there were a few incidents that happened and you had to take that into account; not to get too excited putting drive-throughs on those people.?

As I said; Tander has to be next rounds Tosser hasn't he?

No I made it Jack Perkins after a toss of a coin.

Yeah , .. . ok I agree, . . good call[bw]

although I think jack was worse than a tosser, he was dangerous at times.[gcs]

They are both tossers, Good call by Mezera ?He is good enough to serve it up as well, but he keeps those ones quiet, but when he gets it he's not that happy about it,?

What a shame Tomas Mezera wasn't doing the shooting at Bathurst 05.
Ambrose would have run Skaife down and won that race if it wasn't for that cockstain Murphy and with Tomas running the show Murphy would have had the book thrown at him
