Beat me to it Gerry!!! Not suprised given the amount Vodafone invested yet the shite reputation it has as a Network out in the marketplace.

This announcement begs the question...who will Roland court to take up Naming Rights Sponsorship?

Kleenex Tissues?
Panadol?
Viagra?

[crackup]

Any other suggestions?

Tuff economic conditions, might help level the playing field a little as it will be very difficult to find a sponsor with huge money to burn at the moment.

Well Vodaphoney originally tipped in 20 million for 3 years.
Dane secured more because he went cap in hand to them saying he couldn't afford to keep both lowndes and WHingy.

888 are about to be bought back to the field.

God luck to them in finding another sponsor willing to tip in around 7 million a year in these economic times.

I'm suprised Dane took it so nicely.
Ford pulled 30% of his budget and he went ballistic.
Voda probably pulled 80% and he was nice

I think T8 are already coming back to the field. This will bring them back a bit faster..

with the current financial issues worlwide and the almighty sponsors dollar harder to come by maybe the answer is like NASCAR,
different sponsor every couple of races.[sh]

I heard a rumour from an unreliable source at the Winternationals last weekend that 888 are in talks with Jim Beam for next year..

Anyone else heard anything?

It wouldn't surprise me !

It seems that there are quite a few teams that would rather 'poach' a sponsor from another team, rather than try to find/develop their own !!!

You could be right, seems to be working for Tekno Autosports.

Seems unlikely to me, as Jim Beam from what I can gather don't pay us a real lot of money, and Roland wants 6 - 8 million a year (if the stories going around are true)

Also from an unreliable source that the only way T8 will get Jim Beam sponsorship is a merge with DJR. Based on recent results the team would be called Triple Dick Racing [sh]
